Dolly Parton's "Rockstar" Album Sneak Peek Coming to Theaters Nationwide

Dolly Parton is making an entrance into movie theaters with an advance listening opportunity for her new album "Rockstar." This event, titled "Rockstar: The Global First Listen Event," will take place on November 15 at various theaters, including three in Knoxville. Attendees will enjoy a collection of music videos from the album, backstage footage, special renditions of Parton's hits "9 to 5" and "Circle of Love," and an interview with the music legend.

The Knoxville movie theaters hosting this event are:

  • Regal Downtown West

  • Regal Pinnacle Stadium

  • Cinemark Tinseltown Oak Ridge

Tickets are available at dollyrockstarevent.com, with prices set at $14.22 for the Regal locations and $13.72 at Tinseltown, each at different evening showtimes.

Following the initial screening, encore presentations will occur on November 16 in select theaters, with further information accessible on the event's website. A part of the proceeds from ticket sales will support Music Will, a charity aiming to enhance music education in American public schools.

"Rockstar" marks Parton's first foray into rock music, with the album scheduled for release on November 17. It features her take on rock classics including "Stairway to Heaven," "Heartbreaker," "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," "Let It Be," and "Purple Rain."

KARM Buys New $2.15 Million Property to Enhance Services for Homeless Women and Children

Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) has purchased a new property for $2.15 million to expand its support services for homeless women and children. This expansion is a response to a substantial increase in demand for KARM's services.

The new space, acquired on October 31st will house administrative offices to manage programs targeting the needs of these women and children. The aim is to alleviate space constraints at KARM's existing Broadway facility, which will remain operational.

Unlike their Fountain City location, which is for women in long-term recovery, the new site will focus on immediate support for those not in recovery programs. KARM plans to have the new office ready by early next year, but no overnight accommodations for the homeless will be provided there. The church currently on the site will stay open until it relocates.

Judge Refuses to Reopen Christa Gail Pike's Murder Case

A Knox County judge has declined to reopen the case against Christa Gail Pike, who was convicted of the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer. Pike, who was 18 at the time of the crime, had her defense argue for a reconsideration of her death sentence following a Tennessee Supreme Court decision on juvenile sentencing rights.

The judge ruled against the motion because Pike was legally an adult when the murder occurred. Pike's lawyers are planning to appeal this decision. If Pike is executed, she will be the first woman to receive the death penalty in the state in over two centuries.

Suspect in East Knoxville Shooting Detained by Knox County Sheriff’s Office

Authorities are probing a deadly shooting incident in East Knoxville.

Officers from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire on the 8500 block of Old Rutledge Pike late Tuesday evening. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim with several gunshot wounds. He was declared deceased at the location.

The individual believed to be responsible for the shooting has been apprehended by the Knox County Sheriff's Office, with no complications during the arrest.

Volunteers' Touchdowns to Trigger AED Donations for Youth Sports in Huddle for Hearts Initiative

The Peyton Walker Foundation has pledged to donate three AEDs to youth sports programs for every receiving touchdown the Volunteers football team scores for the remainder of the season. The initiative was set in motion by Vols wide receiver Bry McCoy, who, despite a season-ending injury, partnered with the foundation to start the Huddle for Hearts program, advocating for AED accessibility and CPR training in youth sports.

Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death among student-athletes in the U.S. The Vols' upcoming games include a match against the Connecticut Huskies with an upcoming game scheduled against Missouri.
