Supporting Local Farms: The Story of Rebel Hollow Farm

In the heart of our community lies a gem that embodies both agricultural heritage and family values: Rebel Hollow Farm. Owned and operated by Jodie Moore and her three sons, CJ, John, and Hunter, this farm represents more than just a business; it's a testament to the importance of supporting local farmers.

The Evolution from Friendly Farm to Rebel Hollow

Rebel Hollow Farm, initially known as Friendly Farm, began its journey in 2012. With a focus on family-friendly events like Baby Cuddling, a Sunflower Festival, and the Easter Eggstravaganza, Friendly Farm quickly became a beloved local spot. However, as the farm expanded its operations into meat production, it faced a unique challenge.

The community expressed discomfort with the idea of a petting zoo that also sold meat. To address this, the farm rebranded its meat production under the name Rebel Hollow Farm in 2018, ensuring a clear distinction. The animals raised for food are separate from those in the petting zoo, allowing visitors to enjoy the farm's events without any ethical concerns.

Why Choose Local Beef, Pork, and Lamb?

Freshness and Quality: Local meats are often fresher, having traveled shorter distances from farm to table. This not only ensures a higher quality product but also supports sustainable practices.

Boosting Local Economy: By purchasing from Rebel Hollow Farm, you're directly contributing to the local economy and helping sustain a family-run business that has become a pillar in our community.

Knowing Your Food Source: When you buy local, you have the opportunity to know where and how your food is produced. Rebel Hollow Farm is transparent about its farming practices, ensuring ethical treatment and quality care for their animals.

Environmental Impact: Local farms typically have a smaller carbon footprint compared to large-scale commercial farms. By choosing local, you're making a decision that benefits the environment.

A Visit to Remember

Don't forget to check out Friendly Farm for its array of fun events. While there, you can learn more about Rebel Hollow Farm's meat products. It's an excellent opportunity for families to connect with agriculture, understand the importance of local farming, and make informed choices about their food.

Wrap-Up

Supporting local farms like Rebel Hollow Farm is more than just a purchase; it's an investment in our community, our economy, and our planet. By choosing local beef, pork, and lamb, you're not only getting great quality products but also contributing to a sustainable and ethical food system.

Rebel Hollow Farm stands as a symbol of resilience, adaptation, and commitment to community values. They can be reached at [email protected]m or (865) 247-1874.

Let's support them and other farms in our area, and in turn, nurture the community we call home.

Tragic Incident on I-40: Knoxville Driver Loses Life Due to Runaway Tire

A fatal accident occurred on I-40 in Knoxville when a tire dislodged from an eastbound Nissan SUV, flew across the median, and crashed through the windshield of a westbound Nissan SUV.

The driver of the westbound SUV was hit by the tire and later died at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. The incident, which took place around 1:15 p.m. on Thursday near West Hills, resulted in no other injuries.

The 12 Scams of Christmas

This holiday season, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) highlights 12 common Christmas season scams. We will highlight two of these scams each day, with today’s issue containing #7 and #8.

  1. Beware of Fake Websites: Scammers often create imitation websites linked in emails offering holiday deals. Avoid clicking these links. Instead, verify the legitimacy of websites directly or through BBB.org/search.

  2. Charity Fraud Awareness: With charitable donations peaking towards year-end, stay alert for fake charities. Make informed donation decisions and validate charities through BBB's Give.org.

Expanding Small Business Saturday into Small Business December

As the holiday season approaches, we have a unique opportunity to transform the success of Small Business Saturday into a broader, more impactful initiative: Small Business December. This initiative is more than just a campaign; it’s a community-driven movement to support our local economy and the small businesses that are its backbone. Small businesses give our community its unique character, create jobs, and invigorate our local economy. By choosing to shop locally throughout December, we not only find unique gifts for our loved ones but also contribute to the prosperity and resilience of our neighborhood.

Our collective efforts can make a significant difference. We encourage each of you to be ambassadors for this cause. Share your local shopping experiences on social media, recommend your favorite small businesses to friends and family, and consider buying your holiday gifts from local artisans and shopkeepers. Local businesses often offer beautifully crafted, unique items that make thoughtful and memorable gifts. Remember, every purchase you make at a small business is an investment in our community’s future.

Let’s come together to make Small Business December a new tradition that supports and celebrates the heart of our community - our local businesses. It’s more than just shopping; it’s about building a stronger, more connected community. Your support can help turn a challenging year into a brighter season for our small business owners. Let’s show them how much they mean to us and make this December a month of local love and community spirit.
