East TN Representatives Concerned About Upcoming Postal Distribution Changes

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) plans to relocate some of its Knoxville operations to Louisville, Kentucky, as part of its efficiency initiative. This move has caused concern among East Tennessee's representatives about the lack of detailed information provided at a public meeting and the potential impact on over 1,200 local postal workers.

Congressman Tim Burchett and others have criticized the USPS for not addressing significant questions, including the timeline for these changes, the impact on local delivery standards, and strategies to prevent increased costs and delays. The Postmaster General's office responded to these concerns but did not provide specific answers, only assuring that there would be no layoffs.

Knoxville Ranks 17th Most Popular City for New Movers

Knoxville has once again emerged as a favored destination for those relocating from other states, as evidenced by the latest U-Haul growth index. In this year's report, our beloved Scruffy City has impressively clinched the 17th spot on the list of top U.S. growth cities for 2023.

This ranking is based on U-Haul's analysis of one-way customer relocations over the past year. Knoxville's rise to the top 25 growth cities marks a significant comeback, having not been featured on the list in the previous two years. This resurgence underscores the city's growing appeal as a vibrant and desirable place to live.
