Tennessee Men's Basketball Rises to Top 5 in Recent Polls

Exciting news from the world of college basketball! The University of Tennessee's men's basketball team has made a significant leap in the national rankings, reaching the top five in both the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and the USA TODAY Coaches Poll, as reported by utsports.com.

The Volunteers, with a commendable 9-3 record, have climbed to the fifth position. This upward movement is marked by a one-spot rise in the AP Poll and a two-spot jump in the Coaches Poll. Achieving the No. 5 rank, the Volunteers have hit their best mark of the current season. This milestone includes their first appearance in the top five of the Coaches Poll since February 6, 2023, and a similar top-five placement in the AP Poll since January 30, 2023.

Remarkably, the team has consistently featured in the AP Poll for 47 consecutive weeks, surpassing the previous program record by 10 weeks. Within these rankings, the team has secured a top-10 spot in 20 releases, including four in the top five.

Pellissippi State Leads Statewide Food Drive with Record Donations

In an inspiring display of community spirit, Pellissippi State Community College has once again demonstrated its commitment to helping those in need. During a six-week statewide food collection challenge, the college community, including students, faculty, and staff, showcased their generosity by collecting an impressive number of food items for local charities and food banks.

The annual event, taking place each November and December, sees Tennessee's community and technical colleges compete to gather food and monetary donations. This year, Pellissippi State made a significant contribution, amassing 43,058 items out of the total 128,039 collected across the state. Their outstanding effort marks the fifth consecutive year that the college has topped the charts in this endeavor.
