Winter's Palette: The Unseen Colors of Our Snowy Landscape

In the winter wonderland we currently find ourselves in, some of us still unable to safely drive our back roads, lies a hidden world of vibrant colors. This realm has been beautifully captured by a local photographer Chantel Miller, showcasing the brilliant hues of winter birds against the snowy backdrop.

On a day blanketed in snow, while many sought the warmth of their homes, she ventured out, camera in hand. One masterpiece was a cardinal, a burst of red against the white canvas of snow, a vivid reminder of the beauty persisting even in the coldest of seasons.

Her journey unveiled a series of stunning images - each photograph telling a story of resilience and beauty, a testament to the lively spirit of nature in winter.

But the artistry goes beyond the birds. These photos capture the essence of a rare heavy and deep winter snowfall in our area - the shimmering icicles, the hushed fields blanketed in snow, and the stark beauty of bare branches against the sky. Each image is an invitation to pause and appreciate the hidden wonders of the season.

As we embrace another snowy day, which we hear forecasted that we may see a couple MORE inches when we awake tomorrow, let's remember the vibrant life thriving amidst the cold. Inspired by these photographs, we're reminded to explore, to look closer at the world around us, and to find joy in the simple beauty of a winter bird perched on a snow-laden branch.

So, as the snow is forecasted to fall once again, let's step outside and discover the unseen colors of our winter landscape, celebrating the beauty and resilience of nature, one snapshot at a time.

As Vestal United Methodist Church Warming Center Hits Full Capacity, Guests Relocated to South Knoxville Community Center

In a recent update from city officials, it was announced that the warming center at Vestal United Methodist Church in Knoxville has reached its full capacity. Consequently, individuals seeking shelter are now being redirected to the South Knoxville Community Center.

Additionally, there is a growing need for donations at various warming centers throughout the Knoxville area. Representatives from Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) have expressed an urgent need for food and hand warmers. This call for assistance comes as KARM drivers are currently unable to travel on the roads to collect supplies.
