Tech Startups Receive Boost from DOE's $10 Million Clean Energy Voucher Program
The U.S. Department of Energy has embarked on an initiative to bridge the gap between laboratory research and market-ready clean energy technologies. Recently, officials visited Knoxville to unveil a significant opportunity for local startups: six exclusive vouchers aimed at fostering development and commercialization.
This initiative is part of a larger $10 million voucher program established by the department in 2023. The program addresses a critical challenge faced by technology startups - how to develop advanced technologies and bring them to market without exhausting financial resources.
To facilitate this, the Department of Energy has identified a network of companies and laboratories with specialized expertise in transitioning technologies from concept to commercial reality. As part of this nationwide effort, over 100 tech startups will receive vouchers, enabling them to collaborate with these expert entities. This move is poised to accelerate the development of innovative clean energy solutions and strengthen the market presence of emerging tech companies.
Knoxville Opens Applications for Community and Opioid Abatement Grants
The city of Knoxville is now accepting applications for two grant programs: Community Agency Grants, supporting arts and social services, and Opioid Abatement Grants, aimed at combating opioid addiction.
Over $6.8 million has been distributed in the past four years through the first program, while around $250,000 is available for the second.
Eligible applicants must be within city limits and registered as charitable organizations, with specific longevity requirements for each grant. The application process is online, with a deadline of February 15th. Learn More
