His goal is bold yet intimate: to feed 500 people this Christmas, mirroring his commitment to nourish both the belly and the soul of his community.

Hiking for Hope: A Community Event to Support Mental Health Awareness

Today, January 27th from 8am-noon! “A Hike to Remember ‘22” is an event dedicated to recognizing both veterans and civilians grappling with mental health challenges, and welcomes anyone interested in participating.

The initiative behind “A Hike to Remember ‘22” is a heartfelt effort to pay tribute to those we've lost and stand with those who are silently enduring mental health issues. The event kicks off with a complimentary breakfast, followed by a 5.11-mile hike. This hike is more than just a physical journey; it's an opportunity to forge connections, offer encouragement, and show solidarity with individuals facing mental health difficulties. Plus, attendees will have the chance to win various prizes through raffle tickets, aimed at enhancing both financial and physical wellness.

This family-friendly event will start at 272 N Peters Rd.. Don’t miss this chance to be part of a community coming together for a cause that touches many lives.

Knox County Schools Propose Calendar Adjustment for Additional Inclement Weather Days

In the latest update from Knox County Schools, officials are taking proactive steps to prepare for any potential class cancellations due to bad weather or health concerns. The district has already used its allotted inclement weather days due to the severe winter storm in January.

Superintendent Jon Rysewyk and Assistant Superintendent of Academics Keith Wilson have informed the school board that they are planning to add two additional days to the calendar for inclement weather. This proposal, which requires board approval in February, includes some changes to the school schedule:

The in-service day scheduled for February 19th will now be a regular school day. The two remaining early release days, on February 14th and March 20th, will be extended to full days. It's important to note that the early release day on January 24th was used as a snow day, and therefore does not count as an early release day.

As of now, the last day of the school year remains set for May 23rd. Keep an eye out for further updates and adjustments to the school calendar as needed.
