Let’s Go Fishing at Fountain City Lake!
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has announced the schedule for trout releases on its official website, with the final release of the season set for February 9th. Given that trout thrive in cooler conditions, these fish are not expected to survive as temperatures rise in both the air and water.
The Buffalo Springs Trout Hatchery in Rutledge is preparing trout, expected to reach about 12 inches in length by the time of their release. Anglers should note that there are no size limits on the trout they catch, but a daily limit of five fish per person is enforced.
For those aged 13 and above, fishing requires a valid license, which can be conveniently purchased at Walmart, any sports store, or online. Additionally, the TWRA offers a mobile app, making it easier than ever to obtain your fishing license on the go.

FOUND! Missing Halls Area Girl Found Safe Near Georgia, Suspect Killed
In our community update, we bring to light a distressing incident involving the disappearance of an 11-year-old girl from the Halls area. The individual implicated in this case, Edward Dale Ahrens, 38, of Ringgold, Georgia, was a known sex offender with a history of offenses recorded both nationally and within the state.
The story began earlier in the week when the Knox County Sheriff’s Office reported that the young girl had vanished from her residence in Halls. In response to her disappearance, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation swiftly issued an Endangered Child Alert. Fortunately, the story took a positive turn on Friday morning when it was announced that the girl was found safe in Hamilton County, close to the Georgia state line.
Ahrens was killed during a confrontation with law enforcement officers. The encounter occurred near his primary residence, only five miles from where he was found with the missing girl. It was revealed that Ahrens had led law enforcement on a chase along I-75 south in Hamilton County, TN, during which he attempted to evade capture by running over at least three detectives with his vehicle. The situation escalated, resulting in law enforcement discharging their weapons into the vehicle, leading to Ahrens' death at a nearby hospital.
Gary Sisk, the Sheriff of Catoosa County, described the situation as a harrowing reminder of the dangers of social media, where a young child was lured by a sexual predator. This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the potential dangers lurking online.
