Knoxville's Potchke Deli Earns National Recognition

In a remarkable achievement for our culinary scene, Potchke, a Jewish deli with a Ukrainian twist that began serving customers in March, 2022, has been recognized as one of USA Today’s Restaurants of the Year for 2024.

This accolade comes less than two years after its opening, showcasing the exceptional quality and unique offerings of the deli. Potchke stands out as one of only 47 establishments nationwide to receive this prestigious acknowledgment. Alongside Locust in Nashville, it is one of just two Tennessee restaurants to be featured on this year’s esteemed list.

Sinkhole Prompts Closure of Mine Road in Knox County, Repairs Underway

A portion of Mine Road in Knox County has been shut down due to a sinkhole affecting its structural integrity, as stated by county officials. This affected area is situated to the north of Mascot.

Authorities have implemented detour signage and have mobilized repair teams to address the issue. Nonetheless, they caution that the road might remain inaccessible until Monday, given the possible magnitude of the sinkhole.

Breaking Barriers at Any Age: How Determination and Support Can Lead to Academic Success

Corporal Tim Cutwright's story is a shining example of how it's never too late to pursue your educational dreams, regardless of age or life circumstances. While serving full-time with the University of Tennessee Police Department, Cutwright successfully earned his degree in Criminal Justice from South College.

His journey was not without its challenges, including balancing work responsibilities with academic demands and overcoming personal doubts. However, with determination and support from his colleagues, he achieved his goal, at the age of 46. This story illustrates that with commitment and the right support network, achieving educational aspirations is possible, no matter your stage in life. Let Cutwright's experience inspire you to take that step towards pursuing your degree, proving that age or other barriers are not insurmountable obstacles in the path to furthering your education.
