Downtown Parking Survey - Free Nights & Weekends
The City of Knoxville has engaged a consultant to review and suggest improvements for our downtown parking strategy. The city currently offers complimentary parking in municipal lots and garages after 6pm each night and throughout weekends. Additionally, street parking does not incur a charge on Sundays. The outcome of this consultancy may influence whether free parking continues in downtown Knoxville.
This survey aims to assess the value and impact of our existing Free Nights and Weekends parking policy.
Knoxville Sees Significant Drop in Murders and Shootings
The Knoxville Police Department's 2023 Annual Report reveals significant reductions in violent crimes, including murders and shootings, across the city compared to the previous year.
Our city experienced a 33% decline in murders, with the number falling from 36 in 2022 to 24 in 2023. The East District, in particular, saw a remarkable 54% reduction in murders, with incidents decreasing from 24 in 2022 to just 11 in 2023.
