Knoxville Woman's New Start with Habitat for Humanity

In Knoxville, a local woman has recently become the proud owner of a new home, thanks to a collaborative effort with Habitat for Humanity and its volunteers. This initiative not only provides housing but also offers an opportunity for women to learn valuable skills, contributing to the strength and self-reliance of families in the community.

This initiative challenges stereotypes by engaging women not just in homemaking but in the physical construction of homes, providing a platform for them to gain hands-on building experience.

The program annually supports the construction of a home for a deserving mother and her family. This year, a nurse and her daughter were the recipients.

The recipient benefits from a 30-year, interest-free mortgage, which is structured not to exceed 30% of her income. Additionally, she has contributed 300 hours of sweat equity, which includes attending finance and home repair classes as well as participating in the construction of their home.

Journey from Addiction to Law School Success

A man from East Tennessee is making strides in his second year of law school, marking a significant turnaround from his challenging battle with drug addiction.

Following his military service, he was prescribed Benzodiazepines, a type of depressant, which unfortunately led him down a path of dependency. Despite multiple attempts to overcome his addiction, He faced several relapses. It wasn't until a profound moment of self-awareness that he decided to stop using opiates entirely, a decision that has seen him remain heroin-free since 2016.

His message to others facing similar struggles is one of hope and resilience. He emphasizes that while the journey to recovery is far from straightforward, it is indeed achievable with persistence.

Slated for Grace Ministries: Empowering Women Through Faith and Community

Slated for Grace Ministries (SfG) has emerged as a sanctuary for women seeking to deepen their understanding of the Word of God within a supportive community. This non-profit organization, founded a year ago, has quickly become a cornerstone for women's spiritual growth, offering both online and in-person opportunities for study and fellowship.

Danielle Walker, an ordained pastor with years of full-time ministry experience in Virginia and Tennessee, envisioned Slated for Grace Ministries as a space where women could find strength, confidence, and a deeper connection with God's Word. Her passion for fostering a safe, nurturing environment for women to explore their faith and spiritual gifts has driven the organization's mission from the start.

Slated for Grace Ministries distinguishes itself through a range of free resources designed to cater to the modern woman's spiritual journey. With offerings that include local small group meetings hosted at the cozy Empty Cup Coffeehouse, printable Bible studies, devotionals for daily reflection, and a dynamic app providing ongoing daily Bible study series at no cost, SfG ensures that every woman has access to tools for personal growth and empowerment.

Beyond its spiritual offerings, SfG actively contributes to the local community, channeling a portion of all donations to support local ministries and non-profits. Recent beneficiaries include Family Promise of Knoxville, Joni & Friends, and Heard and Held in Johnson City, reflecting the ministry's commitment to extending its impact beyond spiritual support to tangible community assistance.

Slated for Grace Ministries continues to expand its reach, with an ongoing Women's Bible Study at Ball Camp Baptist Church every Sunday evening and the upcoming release of a new printable Bible study, "Unashamed: Six Women Whose Brokenness was Turned to Blessing." This new study promises to offer insightful perspectives on embracing one's brokenness as a path to blessing.

For women in the Knoxville area and beyond looking to join a community that values spiritual growth, empowerment, and the transformative power of God's Word, Danielle Walker extends a warm invitation. Reach out at [email protected] or call (865) 910-7771 for more information. Explore the wealth of resources available at slatedforgrace.com.
