Knoxville Considers Tax Deal for $30.7M Golf Entertainment Complex

The Knoxville City Council will soon review a proposal for a Payment In-Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) agreement to facilitate the development of a $30.7 million golf-themed entertainment complex by Knox OnCore, LLC.

Planned for the former PSC Metals site near Happy Holler in North Knoxville, the 40,000-square-foot facility aims to open in 2026, offering food and beverage services and expecting to generate about $13.2 million in revenue in its first year.

The project will potentially revitalize the area, creating jobs, and involving cleanup efforts under the state's Brownfield Program. The agreement, crucial for the project's feasibility, would result in annual payments to the city and county post-construction.

Bridging Knoxville - A New Era of Urban Connectivity

The "Reconnecting Knoxville" project aims to transform transportation in the city, focusing on improving access for bicyclists and pedestrians, especially benefiting historically isolated East Knoxville communities.

Beyond bridging physical distances, the project will enhance citywide amenities, infrastructure, and job opportunities. Supported by $42.6 million in federal funds, the project will unfold in seven phases, creating nearly 10 miles of connectivity improvements to link South Knoxville, East Knoxville.

Scam Calls Claiming to Be From UT Medical Center

The University of Tennessee Medical Center is alerting the public to be cautious of fraudulent phone calls and text messages pretending to be from the hospital and soliciting funds for medical procedures.

These deceptive communications, which might appear to originate from the hospital's primary phone number of (865) 305-9000, are in fact scams and have no affiliation with the medical center. The technique known as "phone spoofing" allows scammers to mask their identity by making it seem as though the call is coming from a reliable source.

The medical center emphasizes that these solicitations for money are false and urges anyone with concerns about their medical appointments or procedures to directly contact their healthcare provider for accurate information.

Lil Yogi's Children's Blessings - Affordable Quality for Knoxville's Little Ones

Today, we're excited to introduce Lil Yogi's Children's Blessings, a charming store located at 6923-A Maynardville Hwy. Though it's been in operation for less than a year, Lil Yogi's has quickly become a go-to destination for affordable children's clothing, toys, and nursery items, both new and used.

Founded by Christina Bogart, a young mom with a vision to support her family and help others in the community, Lil Yogi's embodies the principle that quality doesn't have to come with a high price tag. Christina was raised with the belief that buying used is a perfectly viable option, especially considering how quickly children grow out of their clothes. This philosophy is at the heart of Lil Yogi's, offering an affordable alternative for parents.

Lil Yogi's stands out for its commitment to affordability and sustainability. The store offers a wide range of sizes, from preemie to kids' 16/18, ensuring that parents can find what they need for their children at every stage of growth without straining their budget. This approach not only supports families financially but also encourages sustainable consumption.

Beyond its business, Lil Yogi's is dedicated to community engagement. In its initial months, the store has sponsored local dance and cheer teams, and is looking to expand its support to more community initiatives. This commitment underscores Lil Yogi's role as an active and caring member of the community.

Recently, Lil Yogi's expanded its store to accommodate a larger inventory. The future looks bright with plans to include more extensive items and cater to larger children's sizes, aiming to meet the growing needs of their customers.

For those interested in exploring what Lil Yogi's has to offer or to learn more about their community initiatives, you can contact Christina Bogart at [email protected] or call (865) 705-3839. Also, be sure to check out their Facebook page for the latest updates and offerings.

Join us in supporting Lil Yogi's Children's Blessings, a business that's quickly becoming a beloved part of our Knoxville community, for providing quality and affordable options for our littlest residents.
