Angora Frog Farm and Dog Park is now open in Powell!

In 1927, Horace Brown registered a farm under the whimsical name "Angora Frog Farm," inspired by his humorous tales of frogs that grew long green hair. Inspired by Mr. Brown’s tale, Legacy Parks created the Angora Frog Farm—a whimsical park where visitors can learn, laugh, and play.

Angora Frog Farm and Dog Park has officially opened in Powell at 7325 Brickyard Rd. The park features a half-mile shaded gravel trail where visitors can explore various stations, each with an interactive feature and a matching story. Along the path, kids can enjoy play equipment like a seesaw and a rope web, and follow prompts that encourage them to interact with a shallow creek and a small wooden house.

This park is located directly across Powell Drive from the new Powell High Landing boat launch on Beaver Creek.

Labor Day Sunflower Project at Knoxville Botanical Garden

Celebrate Labor Day with a unique and beautiful tradition at the Knoxville Botanical Garden & Arboretum on Monday, September 2, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The Labor Day Sunflower Project is all about collective effort, bringing together the contributions of many to create something truly special for everyone to enjoy.

Bring your native, domesticated, cultivar, or nativar sunflowers and sunflower seed heads, each with an 18-inch stem, to help us weave them into a massive circle of flowers. This circle will symbolize the beauty and strength of our collective labor.

The event will also feature live music, delicious food, and plenty of flowers. It’s a wonderful opportunity to gather with friends, neighbors, and fellow flower lovers to create a uniquely Knoxville art installation.

Join us for a morning filled with community, creativity, and the vibrant colors of sunflowers. Let’s come together to celebrate the power of collective work and enjoy the beauty it brings! More Info
