Appalachian Ballet Company's Dracula - Only Two Performances Left

Looking for something a little more elegant (and a little more eerie) for Halloween weekend? Appalachian Ballet Company's Dracula is back, and seats are disappearing fast.
Following the success of last year's premiere, this haunting production returns to the intimate Haslam Family Flexible Theatre at the Clayton Center for the Arts in Maryville. Choreographed by artistic directors Amy Morton Vaughn and Kylie Morton Berry, alongside choreographers James and Laura La Russa, it weaves a sensual, suspenseful story through a striking blend of classical and contemporary dance, with lighting design by Ian Bailey transforming the theatre into a haunting world of its own.
James La Russa stars as Dracula, with Laura La Russa as Lucy Westenra.
October 30th — Patron Party & Performance. Make a night of it with the Dracula-themed patron party at 6:00 PM, featuring bites catered by Foothills Milling Co., adult beverages, and mocktails, followed by the 7:00 PM performance. General admission for the party and show is $100. The evening is sponsored by David's Abbey Carpet & Floors.
October 31st — 5:00 PM Performance. Tickets are $35, and the one-hour show is the perfect start to your Halloween night. Wear your costume, take in the ballet, then head out for the rest of your plans.

AMBC Fall Fest Takes Over the Urban Wilderness

Every fall, mountain bikers from across the country roll into South Knoxville for one of the Urban Wilderness's biggest parties, and you don't have to ride to join the fun.
The Appalachian Mountain Bike Club (AMBC), the Knoxville nonprofit that builds and maintains many of the area's natural-surface trails, hosts its annual Fall Fest on November 6th–7th at Baker Creek Preserve and Urban Wilderness Gateway Park. It's AMBC's biggest fundraiser of the year, and it's FREE to attend.
What to expect: Group rides and Saturday bike shuttles to Devil's Racetrack ($10 suggested donation); The Whip Off and Best Line competitions on the Baker Creek Pump Track, with cash prizes; Kids' rides, a kids' strider race, and activity stations on Saturday; Live music, local food, and beer; A bike raffle (drawing Saturday at 9 PM) and a silent auction; Free onsite camping at Urban Wilderness Gateway Park.
Most of the event is kid-friendly, though things get a little livelier after dark. Parking is free at the Baker Creek Bottoms overflow lot, South Doyle Middle School (after 5:00 PM Friday), and the Urban Wilderness Gateway Park lot. Please don't park in the neighborhood. More Info

Business Spotlight on The Comedy Sphere

The Comedy Sphere Is Giving Knoxville’s Local Comics the Stage They Deserve. Knoxville is full of funny people, and Justin Chavez wants to make sure you get to see them.
Justin is the founder of The Comedy Sphere, a Knoxville company that promotes and produces local stand-up comedy shows around town. The Comedy Sphere doesn’t have a club of its own. Instead, it partners with local venues, Central Cinema among its favorites, to put on shows that spotlight the comedians working hard right here at home.
The idea grew out of Justin’s own time on the scene. He had been a regular at local open mics but rarely landed booked shows, the ticketed gigs where an audience pays to see you perform. He noticed the same handful of comics landing spots on local showcases over and over, so he decided to create shows of his own. “There’s a lot of funny people around here that work hard and come to open mics all the time, and they deserve a stage as well,” Justin says.
He produced his first show last September for Hispanic Heritage Month. Justin is a proud Mexican American, and at a time when immigration was weighing heavily on many families, he felt called to do something for Hispanic and Latino communities. He booked an all-Hispanic lineup. The show sold out, and as Justin puts it, they “haven’t looked back since.” Today The Comedy Sphere hosts two open mics a week and three to five booked events every month.
What makes a Comedy Sphere show worth the ticket? Variety. Justin takes pride in booking comics with all kinds of styles, because not everyone shares the same sense of humor. Some nights have a theme: a “dirty show” for audiences who like their comedy a little more risqué, or an all-women showcase. Justin started the all-women shows because women in comedy, as in so many workplaces, often don’t get the same exposure. He wants to give them more stage time and build equity in the scene. Most lineups are mostly local talent with one or two out-of-town comics mixed in. There is one firm rule: The Comedy Sphere books good people. Justin checks every comic’s social media, prior to choosing adding the comic to the lineup.
If you’re looking for a night out that supports Knoxville’s own creative community, check The Comedy Sphere’s calendar and grab a ticket. Your next favorite comedian might be someone from right here in town!

A Forest of Holiday Magic for a Great Cause — Fantasy of Trees Returns Thanksgiving Week

Fantasy of Trees, benefiting Dolly Parton Children's Hospital (formerly East Tennessee Children's Hospital), fills the Knoxville Convention Center (701 Henley Street) with a dazzling forest of decorated Christmas trees during Thanksgiving week. Ticket listings show this year's event running November 25th-29th.
For more than four decades, families have made a visit part of their holiday season, strolling through the trees and getting into the Christmas spirit. And every ticket helps support care for children at the hospital.
Last year, admission was $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for children 4–12, and free for kids 3 and under. Check the hospital's website for 2026 prices, hours, and to confirm dates. More Info
Jeremy Denk, Bartók & the Unforgettable Boléro — Knoxville Symphony at the Tennessee Theatre

Few pieces of music build like Ravel's Boléro, and few places are as grand for hearing it as the historic Tennessee Theatre (604 S. Gay Street).
The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra presents Bartók & Boléro on November 12th–13th, at 7:30 PM, conducted by Music Director Aram Demirjian and featuring acclaimed pianist Jeremy Denk.
The program connects four composers from a period of change in European music. Bartók premiered his Second Piano Concerto himself in 1933, the same year Messiaen wrote L'Ascension. Ravel's Boléro premiered in Paris in 1928 as a ballet score, and it has been bringing audiences to their feet ever since. More Info
