Knoxville Police Alert - Beware of Counterfeit Parking Tickets
In a recent community alert, the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) warned residents about a counterfeit parking citation purportedly issued by them. The discovery came to light after a fraudulent ticket was found on a vehicle.
Authorities have identified the counterfeit ticket, noting it as the sole instance currently known, yet emphasize the critical importance of vigilance among city residents regarding such deceptive practices.
Residents who encounter a parking ticket that seems questionable are urged to contact the Knoxville Municipal Court for verification. The court's contact number is (865) 215-4311. This measure is part of KPD's effort to ensure the safety and awareness of the community against potential scams.
E. Emory Road Reopened Following Overturned Concrete Truck Accident
E. Emory Road in Knox County is once again open to traffic following a several-hour closure caused by an accident in which a concrete truck overturned.
The incident occurred near the intersection of E. Emory and Stormer Roads at around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Responding emergency teams encountered a concrete truck tipped over and blocking the road, with its driver trapped inside.
For approximately two and a half hours, rescuers diligently worked to extricate the driver by methodically dismantling the cab of the truck.
The driver was eventually freed and airlifted to a UT Trauma Center by LifeStar, sustaining injuries believed to be non-critical. Meanwhile, the SUV driver involved in the accident stayed on-site and declined any medical care.
Knoxville's New Day Diagnostics Leads the Way with Innovative Colorectal Cancer Blood Test
March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and a notable advancement is being spotlighted: a non-invasive blood test for colorectal cancer developed by Knoxville's New Day Diagnostics.
This test, a first-of-its-kind alternative to traditional colonoscopies, is particularly significant given the high incidence and mortality rate of colorectal cancer in the United States, with recent figures indicating about 150,000 new cases and over 50,000 deaths annually. In Tennessee alone, the disease results in three deaths daily.
The test, which was originally available under the name Epi proColon and has been rebranded as ColoHealth™, uses blood plasma samples to detect cancer signals. This development is a crucial step forward in improving early detection and intervention for colorectal cancer, offering a convenient and less invasive screening option.
