Knoxville Detective Solves 52-Year-Old Stolen Shotgun Case
In 1972, Frank Rudy, Jr. discovered his family's Nashville home had been burglarized and several rare firearms were stolen, including a 28-gauge Ithaca double-barrel shotgun made in 1933.
Over five decades later, this particular shotgun resurfaced in Knoxville during a routine gun sale. The alert system flagged the firearm as stolen, leading Knoxville Detective David Ogle to investigate. With the help of Nashville Detective Shaun Daniels, they traced the gun back to the Rudy family.
The recovery of this valuable and rare firearm, deeply cherished as a family heirloom, highlights the diligent efforts of law enforcement to preserve heritage and serve the community.
New Stadium on Track with Enhancements and Federal Boost
Construction on our new downtown stadium is well underway, with significant progress including the completion of roofing, ductwork, and drywall in the visitor's dugout. The stadium, set to open in April 2025, features a high-quality wooden roof and will display the ductwork on its upper level. The project, managed by Denark Construction, also includes upgrades such as a Tennessee-shaped scoreboard.
Upon completion, the stadium will be publicly owned and leased back to the Smokies for $1 million annually.
