Lease Terminations Displace Families at Maryville Mobile Home Park

Residents of the Thornhill Mobile Home Community in Maryville have been informed that their property leases will terminate on June 30, necessitating them to either relocate their homes or sell them to the property owner. This announcement has significantly disrupted the lives of approximately a dozen families, forcing them to face difficult choices ahead.

The cost to move a mobile home, as estimated by a resident, is around $2,500 - a sum that exceeds many residents' monthly incomes.

The community, which includes multiple generations within some families, now faces uncertainty. Despite the upheaval, a Legal Aid attorney, Darrell Winfree, noted that the landlord has legally complied by providing a 90-day notice, which still leaves the residents with limited options.
