Community Rallies to Support Local Mechanic After Devastating Garage Fire

Neighbors in North Knoxville are supporting a local mechanic after a fire destroyed his garage and its contents, including tools and a classic truck he had been restoring. The Knoxville Fire Department quickly controlled the blaze, yet the damage was significant.

In response, a neighbor has started an online fundraiser to help replace items not covered by insurance. The community is rallying around Virgil Hayes Jr, who is known for his generosity in helping others, demonstrating a strong sense of neighborhood solidarity and support.

Local Woman Celebrates 100th Birthday with a Workout

Hannah Haller of Knoxville turned 100 this week and marked the occasion in a unique way - by hitting the gym. Her commitment to staying active is a testament to her longevity and vitality.

Her zest for life is evident, especially as she participates in the S.A.I.L. classes at Deane Hill Community Center. The program, introduced by the Knox County Health Department in 2008, stands for "Stay Active and Independent for Life.”
