Fire Breaks Out at Dollar General off Executive Park Drive/Cedar Bluff

The Knoxville Fire Department (KFD) quickly controlled a fire at the Dollar General on Executive Park Drive. Reported just after 3pm Tuesday, the fire started in the back of the store and spread through the drop ceiling. Everyone was safely evacuated, and no injuries occurred.

By 5:20 p.m., the fire was fully extinguished. All buildings in the strip mall will remain closed until further notice.

Cattywampus Parade & Block Party This Weekend

The Cattywampus Parade and Block Party will take place this Sunday. Hosted by the Cattywampus Puppet Council, the event features giant puppets, masks, costumes, and various forms of art.

This year's theme, "We Dwell Together," emphasizes community unity and creativity. The parade starts at 3pm, proceeding along the Open Streets Knoxville route, and ends with a block party from 3:30pm to 6pm on N. Central and Baxter Avenue, featuring local performances and activities.

Handgun Recovered at West High School, Student in Custody

A student at West High School was taken into custody after a stolen handgun was found on campus. Just after noon Tuesday, school security officers were alerted to the potential presence of a gun.

The student was detained, and the handgun was recovered. Following this, the school went into a hard lockdown due to a reported threat, which was later found to be non-credible. The lockdown was lifted just after 2pm. The student will face charges.
