Witness the Magic of Synchronous Fireflies at Molly Branch

While the Smokies are renowned for synchronous fireflies, Molly Branch in Corryton, Knox County, offers another prime viewing spot. From Tuesday, June 7th - Saturday, June 18th, visitors can marvel at this rare phenomenon without the hassle of a lottery - just purchase a ticket.

Tickets, priced at $7 for children and $12 for adults, are first come, first serve and sell out quickly, so early purchase is recommended. Molly Branch Fireflies is located at 9100 Hogskin Road.

Governor Bill Lee Signs Bill to Streamline Construction Permits

Yesterday, Governor Bill Lee visited Knoxville to sign a bill designed to expedite the permitting process for construction projects. He emphasized the costly delays in permit approvals when demand for new homes and businesses is high.

The bill allows for the use of third-party examiners and inspectors to streamline certain permitting processes, aiming to accelerate project timelines and reduce costs.

Temporary Sunsphere Closure for Welcome Center Construction

Visitors will be unable to enter the Sunsphere now through Sunday, June 9th due to steelwork construction for a new welcome center.

This marks the start of the construction phase for the Sunsphere Welcome Center, part of the second phase of upgrades. The observation deck is expected to reopen to visitors on June 10.

Cancer Charity Ride & Live Music Benefit Event for Kevin Palombi

On Saturday, June 15th, from 9am - 2pm, Bootlegger Harley-Davidson will host the "Fight Like KRP!" event to support Kevin Palombi, who is battling Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.

The event features a charity ride to Norris Dam and back for motorcycles and hot rods, followed by live music from Michael Roberts and food trucks. Kevin's treatment requires a bone marrow transplant, with his sister as a match, but he faces significant recovery time and financial loss. Tickets are $23.18 per bike. More Info & Tickets
