PTSD Awareness in June
PTSD Awareness Month (June) is dedicated to raising awareness about post-traumatic stress disorder and supporting those affected. PTSD can arise from various traumatic events, including military combat, natural disasters, violent assault, accidents, and other life-threatening experiences.
Recognizing the signs and symptoms is crucial for providing support and treatment. This month, we encourage everyone to learn about PTSD, share resources, and help reduce the stigma surrounding this condition. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those impacted by PTSD. More Info
Learn From a Master Gardener in Upcoming Sessions
Knox County Master Gardeners (KCMG) will host three events in June and July for the public. On Thursday, June 20th master gardener Marian Phillips will present “Tiny Titans” about nurturing hummingbirds in backyards. The free public event will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Eastern Region Extension Office at 1801 Downtown West Blvd. Phillips will discuss how to create an environment for hummingbirds, how to attract them and some history on the migrating birds.
Ask A Master Gardener sessions are scheduled at Norwood Library in June and July for the public to ask plant and garden questions. Certified master gardener Cid Letsinger will answer questions from 10 a.m. - noon on Saturday, June 15th and Saturday, July 20th at the Norwood Branch Library, located at 1110 Merchant Dr. in Knoxville. In addition, AMG sessions are held at several farmer’s markets in Knoxville, Tellico Village and Farragut. For details, see the KCMG public calendar.

New Dog Park Opens
Exciting news for Knoxville pet owners! A new dog park has opened near Washington Pike, in New Harvest Park, providing a spacious and safe area for dogs to play and exercise. This new facility features separate sections for small and large dogs, ensuring a comfortable environment for pets of all sizes.
The park also includes water stations, shaded areas, and seating for pet owners. It's a wonderful addition to the community, promoting outdoor activity and socialization for both dogs and their owners.
