Celebrate Irena Linn at the First Annual Silver Gala

Honoring the dedication to modern dance and young people in Knoxville, TN, Dancers Studio and Ignite! powered by Dancers Studio are proud to host the first annual Silver Gala for the renowned Irena Linn, and the World Premiere of the Irena Linn documentary on Sunday, June 23rd, 4pm - 7pm.

A special performance by the dynamic pre-professional youth company Ignite! powered by Dancers Studio comes on the heels of their premiere spring concert that ended with a standing ovation. This performance is sure to be spectacular!

A live auction featuring never-before-seen artwork by local artist, Beauford Delaney, works by Joseph Delaney, Dr. Dorothy Floyd, various experiential packages, and baskets.

Tickets are $75 and include intimate performances by Ignite! Dance Powered by Dancers Studio along with Cocktails featuring Uncle Nearest Whiskey, Hors d’oeuvres, and Desserts.

University of Tennessee Baseball Team Advances to College World Series Championship Round

In a historic triumph, the University of Tennessee baseball team has secured a spot in the championship round of the Men’s College World Series for the first time in over seven decades. Their journey to the finals was sealed with an impressive 7-2 victory over Florida State on Wednesday.

The last time Tennessee made it to the finals was in 1951, where they narrowly missed the national title, finishing as runners-up. Now, the team is gearing up to face off against Texas A&M in a highly anticipated three-game series beginning on Saturday, June 22nd.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Tennessee baseball, showcasing their resilience and skill on the national stage. Fans and supporters eagerly await the upcoming series, hopeful for another historic moment for the Volunteers.

Local Businesses - Print Required Federal Posters for Free

The Business Services Team here at the Knoxville American Job Center wanted to share the updated required employer federal posters that must be posted in every place of business. The Tennessee State Department of Labor and Workforce Development no longer provides the all-in-one poster that they did years ago. There are folks out there trying to tell businesses that they have to purchase an all-in-one poster - this is false information. A business may now simply print out the required posters from these links below:

Sunflower Festival Returns on July 13th

Mark your calendars for the Knoxville Sunflower Festival, returning on Saturday, July 13th, from 9am - noon. Hosted by Legacy Parks, this free event will showcase thousands of blooming sunflowers at the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency's Forks of the River Wildlife Management Area.

Enjoy bike rides, guided hikes, and food trucks at Ijams Quarries. Free loaner bikes will be available from Kickstand Community Bike Shop. Limited parking is available for $5 at Ijams Nature Center, and a free shuttle will run from Maynard Glenn Ballfields.

1st Annual Independence Day Festival in Union County

The festival will be held rain or shine under the Big Top at the Jaxx Drive Thru Arena, 874 Hickory Star Road in Maynardville on Friday, June 28th & Saturday, June 29th. Bring your lawn chairs for arena seating in front of the stage and enjoy a variety of food trucks on-site. The primary elections for the U.S. House of Representatives, Tennessee Senate, and Tennessee House of Representatives will take place on Thursday, August 1st. Voters will choose their preferred candidates for the Republican and Democratic parties in these races, with the general election scheduled for November. Additionally, several Knox County elections will be decided through a general election on the same day.
