Zoo Knoxville has a new CEO
Zoo Knoxville has announced the appointment of a new CEO (Bill Street from Indiana) following a nationwide search. He brings a wealth of experience from the Indianapolis Zoo, Busch Gardens and SeaWorld and a strong vision for the future of the zoo.
This leadership change marks an exciting new chapter for Zoo Knoxville as it continues to enhance its programs, exhibits, and community outreach efforts. The zoo looks forward to continued growth and innovation under this new leadership.
Join us for Movies in a Cave
at Cherokee Caverns
On Saturday, August 24, 2024, enjoy the animated classic Finding Nemo, where an overprotective clownfish named Marlin embarks on a journey to find his missing son, Nemo, with the help of a forgetful blue tang.
Showtimes are at 11:00 am, 1:15 pm, 3:30 pm, 5:45 pm, and 8:00 pm. Tickets are $15 per person, with children 3 and under admitted free with an adult ticket. No refunds are available due to high demand.
Concessions will be available, offering a variety of snacks like hot dogs, pizza, nachos, candy, and popcorn. Your ticket also includes a self-guided tour of the cave, which is wheelchair and stroller-friendly, available 30 minutes before and after the movie. More Info
2024 Big Kahuna Wing Festival: A Celebration of the Buffalo Wing
Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 1st, as the 11th annual Big Kahuna Wing Festival returns to the World’s Fair Park in Knoxville from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This year’s festival is bigger and better than ever, celebrating the iconic Buffalo Wing with an expanded layout that now includes both the Festival and Performance Lawns.
This wing lover's paradise will feature over 10,000 pounds of wings, including some of the best from across the South. From classic buffalo to creative and spicy varieties, there’s something for every palate. The festival will also showcase a "Wings Around the World" area, offering unique international flavors.
In addition to indulging in mouthwatering wings, attendees can enjoy an array of exciting activities, including a Wing Eating Competition, Bobbing for Wings, and a Wing Cooking Competition. Live music performances will keep the energy high throughout the day, with music beginning at 2:00 PM and continuing until 8:30 PM.
For families, the Kids Corner will provide plenty of entertainment to keep the little ones engaged. The day will conclude with an expansive fireworks show at 9:00 PM, lighting up the sky over the festival grounds.
Gates open at 3:00 PM, with early entry for VIP ticket holders at 2:00 PM. Whether you’re a wing enthusiast or just looking for a fun day out with the family, the 2024 Big Kahuna Wing Festival promises to be an unforgettable experience. Boundaries. Choices. Happenstance. is an original play by Lisa Soland, produced by Theater 23. The story unfolds in the office of a psychologist, Dr. Biscotti, as he reflects on a recent tragic event. The play explores the lives of his clients, whose choices lead them down intertwining paths toward unexpected outcomes. As the psychologist navigates this web of psychological challenges, he is forced to confront his own humanity.
The play will be performed at the Knoxville Convention Center on Friday and Saturday, September 20th-21st at 7:30 PM, with additional shows on Saturday and Sunday, September 21st-22nd at 2:30 PM. More Info/Tickets
