Paranormal Investigation at Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary

Nestled deep in the remote hills of Morgan County, Tennessee, stands the infamous Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary, a prison with a long and violent history. Originally built in 1896 as a wooden structure, this complex housed inmates leased by the State for mining labor. The conditions were brutal—violence, disease, and mining accidents claimed many lives, while harsh punishments, inadequate healthcare, and beatings for underperformance added to the suffering.

On October 5th, Night Shift Paranormal will host a public paranormal investigation inside the walls of this notorious penitentiary. Over the years, reports of unexplained noises, shadowy figures, growls, mysterious lights, and even apparitions have circulated. Do these eerie encounters come from the spirits of former inmates and guards? Could the land's former Native American history be involved? Or is there something else at play?

Join the investigation as we search the depths of this historic prison for answers and evidence of what truly lingers within the walls of Brushy Mountain. More Info

Toys for Tots Kickoff Campaign Begins October 1st at Southeast Handling Systems

On October 1st at 2 p.m., Southeast Handling Systems (5214 S Middlebrook Pike) will proudly host the kickoff event for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's annual Toys for Tots campaign. This much-anticipated event marks the beginning of the season for giving, where the community comes together to ensure that less fortunate children receive the joy of a new toy during the holidays.

The mission of Toys for Tots is clear: to collect new, unwrapped toys throughout October, November, and December, and then distribute those toys to children in need within the local community. By partnering with local community support organizations, donor groups, dedicated volunteers, and the unwavering resourcefulness of the Marine Corps, the Toys for Tots program creates a network of kindness that impacts countless families each year.

At the heart of this campaign is the generosity of people like you. The spirit of giving during this time is what makes the program a success year after year. Southeast Handling Systems and Toys for Tots invite everyone in the community to attend the kickoff event and contribute to the mission—whether through toy donations or spreading the word.

Together, we can make this holiday season brighter for children in need. Contact Sgt Erik Bernard via E-Mail: [email protected], or by phone: (301)514-4527.
