Couture Opera 2024 at Knoxville Opera

On September 27th at 7 PM, Knoxville Opera will host Couture Opera 2024, a unique event blending Bohemian chic with the sophistication of haute couture. The evening kicks off with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, set against an immersive visual art experience.

At 8:00 PM, the runway will come alive with creations from designers Marcus Hall (Marc Nelson Denim) and Shane Archer (Grow: a Shane Archer Concept). Expect stunning hand-crafted couture paired with live music from Knoxville Opera. Following the show, attendees will have the exclusive chance to purchase the evening's runway fashions. Fall Apple Festival at Washington Presbyterian Church

Join the community on Saturday, October 19th, from 9 AM to 2 PM, for the Annual Fall Apple Festival at Washington Presbyterian Church Pavilion and Park, located at 7405 Washington Pike NE, Corryton, TN. This family-friendly event is free to attend, with free parking available across from the church.

The festival is packed with activities and treats, all in the spirit of supporting local missions. From freshly made apple butter and fried apple pies to apple cider and the popular Apple Pie Contest, there’s something delicious for everyone. Don’t miss Granny’s Attic, the Country Market, hot tamales, and the silent auction, as well as live music throughout the day.

Families will enjoy kids' activities, while food lovers can stock up on everything they need for an epic football party, including canned and baked goods, pulled pork lunches (available to-go), and more.

ETDC 2024 Celebration of Design

The East Tennessee Community Design Center (ETCDC) will host its 2024 Celebration of Design on Wednesday, October 16, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Historic Ramsey House in Knoxville. The event celebrates community-driven design and supports ETCDC’s mission to improve East Tennessee through pro bono design assistance from local professionals.

Guests will enjoy Appalachian-inspired hors d'oeuvres, drinks, a blacksmithing demo, live bluegrass music, and an art auction. This year, Rev. Dr. Jerry Askew will receive the Bruce McCarty Community Impact Award for his service in healthcare, education, and nonprofits. The Annette Anderson Director’s Award will be presented to Union County's Heritage Park for fostering community engagement.

The evening includes food from Holly’s Gourmet Market, treats from Cruze Farm, and craft beers from local breweries. Tickets and sponsorships are available online.
