Ways to Help Our Neighbors After the Devastating Floods
After the recent devastating floods, below are a few ways you can help support our neighbors in need.
Realty Executives - Hardin Valley is collecting essential donations such as bottled water, baby wipes, pillows, blankets, granola bars, and phone chargers. You can drop off your contributions Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at their office located at 10330 Hardin Valley Suite 202M.
Cokesbury Church is also gathering cleaning kits, including items like liquid laundry detergent, household cleaner, N95 masks, kitchen and work gloves, and other cleaning essentials. These kits will be distributed to help with the cleanup efforts. You can assemble and deliver these items directly to the church.
In Asheville, the Buncombe Community Christian Ministry is accepting donations of food, clothing, and financial contributions through their website, abccm.org. Every little bit helps as they support those impacted by the flooding.
United Way East Tennessee Highlands is also actively involved, with local drop-off points listed on their Facebook page. Donations can be made directly on their website, unitedwayetnh.org, to assist with flood relief efforts.
Additionally, Yassin’s Falafel House is hosting a special truck collection event this Monday at their downtown store (706 Walnut ST), with drop-offs also accepted at other locations in Blount and Knox counties. They are accepting food items, temporary housing solutions, hygiene products, pet food, and childcare essentials like diapers and formula.
Samaritan's Purse is requesting monetary donations and volunteers to support their on-the-ground efforts. Learn more and get involved at spvolunteer.org.
The Red Cross is accepting monetary donations on their website at redcross.org/donate/dr/hurricane-helene.html.
I will continue to monitor for other donation opportunities and keep everyone updated. Together, we can make a difference for those affected by this disaster.
