2024 Christmas Fair

The 2024 Christmas Fair is returning to the Knoxville Expo Center from November 8-10, bringing holiday cheer to Tennessee in a beloved annual tradition. This festive event offers a magical atmosphere with enchanting displays, artisan crafts, and seasonal treats that capture the spirit of the season. Visitors can enjoy live music by The Warman Trio, performing Friday at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and Saturday at noon and 5:00 p.m. Families can also enjoy free face painting and temporary tattoos in front of Santa, adding to the joy and excitement. UT Creative Writing Program Hosts Poetry Reading with Amber Albritton & Bess Cooley

The University of Tennessee’s Creative Writing Program is pleased to present an evening of poetry with writers Amber Albritton and Bess Cooley, who will share selections from their debut poetry collections. The reading will take place on Monday, November 11, at 7 p.m. in the Lindsey Young Auditorium of the John C. Hodges Library on UT’s campus. Admission is free and open to the public.

Amber Albritton, author of The Indignity of Knowing: Perspectives in Verse of a Military Life, brings a unique perspective shaped by her experiences growing up in a military family. Now based in Knoxville with her family and dog, she considers East Tennessee her home and its people her own. Albritton teaches in the UT English Department and is currently working on two additional books.

Bess Cooley, author of the poetry collection Florence, has received the Mississippi Review Poetry Prize, and her work has been widely published in respected journals, including Prairie Schooner, Western Humanities Review, American Literary Review, The Journal, and Verse Daily. She is also a co-founding editor of Peatsmoke Journal and teaches at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

This reading offers an opportunity to experience the voices of two emerging poets and engage with their thought-provoking work. Join us for an inspiring evening of poetry! More Info
