Knoxville Museum of Art Unveils "Aubrey Jaye’s Art Play" – A Reimagined Creative Space

The Knoxville Museum of Art (KMA) is excited to announce the reopening of its newly renovated, hands-on creative space. This refreshed area will feature commissioned artworks by Knoxville-based artists, new interactive art-making activities, and a fresh identity: "Aubrey Jaye’s Art Play."

Previously known as Creative Corner, the space has been renamed in honor of Aubrey Jaye Burleson and the generous support of her parents, Melissa and Randy Burleson. Longtime KMA supporters, the Burlesons were inspired to create a welcoming, family-friendly environment that nurtures creativity for children and the young-at-heart.

What to Expect at Aubrey Jaye’s Art Play:

  • Hands-On Art Activities: Visitors can engage in traditional art forms such as drawing and painting, as well as explore custom-designed digital tablets with various creative options.

  • Interactive Experiences: A scavenger hunt and other engaging elements will enhance the experience for families and young visitors.

  • New Works by Local Artists: The renovation is a collaborative effort featuring contributions from Denise Stewart-Sanabria, Carl Gombert, Jean Hess, Paris Woodhull, and Annie Rochelle.

Conveniently located near the museum’s front desk, Aubrey Jaye’s Art Play is an ideal first stop—or final destination—for visitors looking to spark creativity.

Grand Opening Celebration:

  • Date: Sunday, February 9

  • Time: 1:00 – 5:00 PM

  • Admission: Free and open to the public as part of KMA’s regularly scheduled Second Sunday Art Activity

Visitors of all ages are encouraged to explore this newly designed space and discover the joy of creativity in a welcoming environment. More Info
