Marble City Opera Presents The Human Voice at Historic Westwood

Marble City Opera will present an immersive, site-specific production of The Human Voice on April 3, 4, and 5, 2025, at Historic Westwood (3425 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN). Tickets are available at MarbleCityOpera.com.

Composed by Francis Poulenc in 1958, The Human Voice is a one-act monodrama based on a play by Jean Cocteau. This emotionally gripping opera follows a woman’s final phone conversation with a former lover who has left her for someone else. Marble City Opera’s production will be sung in English, offering an intimate and immersive experience in the stunning historic setting of Westwood.

Historic Westwood, a Queen Anne-style home built in 1890, was once the residence and studio of artist Adelia Armstrong Lutz. It has served as the headquarters for Knox Heritage since 2013 and provides a uniquely atmospheric backdrop for this powerful performance.

Soprano Kathryn Frady will take on the demanding role of Elle, with Brandon Coffer accompanying on piano. Don’t miss this unforgettable performance blending music, drama, and history in one of Knoxville’s most beautiful landmarks.
