Get Ready for First Friday at the Emporium!

Celebrate the vibrant arts scene in Knoxville at First Friday at the Emporium on March 7 from 5-9 PM. Hosted by the Arts & Culture Alliance at 100 S. Gay Street, this event will showcase new exhibitions and artist demonstrations, accompanied by live music from Sarrenna, Travis Bigwood, and Nicholas Horner.

Featured Musicians

  • Sarrenna – A folk-rock artist known for her powerful vocals and emotional depth. Drawing inspiration from Big Thief, Julia Jacklin, Madi Diaz, and Alanis Morissette, Sarrenna’s music blends soulful grit with heartfelt lyricism.

  • Travis Bigwood – A Knoxville-based folk and Americana musician whose introspective storytelling captures the struggles and revelations of personal growth.

  • Nicholas Horner – Hosting the musical performances, Horner adds his unique touch to the evening’s entertainment.

Renowned artist Wayne White will present his works, which span illustration, set design, and fine art. Known for his Emmy-winning work on Pee-Wee’s Playhouse and his Billboard and MTV award-winning art direction for music videos such as Tonight, Tonight by Smashing Pumpkins, White’s signature style includes oversized text paintings that blend humor, nostalgia, and social commentary.

This First Friday also features a special group exhibition by A1LabArts, Inc., a nonprofit arts organization celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025. Their members engage in a wide range of creative expressions, including visual art, performance art, music, and multimedia.

Additional featured artists include:

  • Deb Cikovic – A multidisciplinary artist transforming musical instruments into epoxy resin masterpieces.

  • Kerry Remp – A retired NASA engineer turned visual artist, specializing in paper and fiber arts, with proceeds benefiting GiGi’s Playhouse for Down Syndrome support.

  • Hannah Doss – A versatile artist with a background in bookbinding, sculpture, and printmaking, currently focused on resin art inspired by nature.

The exhibitions will be on display from March 7-30, 2025. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM, and Saturday, 10 AM – 1 PM. Additional public hours include:

  • Tuesday, March 11, 6-9 PM – Jazz performance

  • Friday, March 14, 9 AM – 7 PM – Gallery 1010 opening

  • March 26-27, 9 AM – 9 PM

  • March 28-29, 10 AM – 9 PM

  • March 30, 10 AM – 8 PM (Big Ears Festival weekend)

Upcoming exhibitions at the Emporium include No Bigger Than a Breadbox, Echoes of Memory, Knoxville Modern Quilt Guild, and more, running through July 2025.
