Healing Roots: Folk Medicine in Appalachia

Step back in time and reconnect with nature’s pharmacy during Healing Roots: Folk Medicine in Appalachia, a special presentation led by Ranger Holly Frerichs. This engaging program explores the historical uses of native Appalachian plants, sharing stories of folk healing traditions passed down through generations. April 27 at 4:00 PM  Meet at the Park Office, Norris Dam State Park

Learn how early settlers and Indigenous communities relied on local flora for wellness, and discover how these time-honored practices continue to influence herbal medicine today. Ranger Holly will help identify several native plants and highlight their significance within Appalachian culture.
