Celebrate the Coming of Summer with A Night of Celtic Tales at Ijams!

Join Ijams Nature Center and the Smoky Mountain Storytellers Association on April 29, 2025, for an enchanting evening of storytelling in honor of Beltane, the traditional Gaelic celebration marking the beginning of summer on May 1st!

Instead of Maypoles and bonfires, you'll be swept away by Celtic tales and magical stories that will carry you joyfully into the sweet days of summer.

Event Details:
April 29, Open: 6:30 PM Stories Begin: 7:00 PM Location: Ijams Visitor Center Back Patio (indoors if inclement weather) Tickets: $12 for adults | $6 for kids ages 5–12

The Ijams Beer Garden and concession area will be open throughout the evening for snacks and refreshments.

Learn Safe Boating with the BOAT AMERICA Course!

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Knoxville-First Flotilla, invites you to join the BOAT AMERICA recreational boating safety course on Saturday, May 10th at Christ Covenant Church (12915 Kingston Pike).

Taught by experienced, certified Coast Guard Auxiliarists, this comprehensive class will cover how to prepare, operate, and navigate your boat safely on local waters. Participants are encouraged to ask questions during the session, and instructors will be available afterward for additional boating discussions. The ultimate goal? Helping you make every boating trip safe for you, your family, and your friends!

If you were born on or after January 1, 1989, you’ll need a Tennessee Boater Education Certificate. To qualify, you must:

  • Obtain a TWRA registration ($10) prior to class (available at Walmart, Academy Sports, or other authorized retailers).

  • Bring your TWRA registration to class.

  • Pass the course exam to receive your completion card, fulfilling Tennessee’s certification requirements.
