Choice Health Network announces National HIV Testing Awareness Day; promotes free walk-in and mailed testing choices

Choice Health Network, a Knoxville-based HIV/AIDS Center of Excellence specializing in HIV prevention and treatment services, announces National HIV Testing Day (NHTD), which is on June 27th each year. This is a day to encourage people to get tested for HIV, know their status, and get linked to care and treatment.

The theme for 2025, “Level up your self-love: check your status” emphasizes valuing yourself, showing yourself compassion and respect, and honoring your health needs with self-love. Knowing your HIV status helps you choose options to stay healthy, regardless of your test result. People who receive a negative test result can take advantage of HIV prevention tools such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), condoms, and other sexual health services such as vaccines and testing for sexually transmitted infections. People who receive a positive test result can rapidly start HIV treatment (antiretroviral therapy, or ART) to stay healthy.

Choice Health Network offers free walk-in testing at our Knoxville location as well as mailed OraQuick® In-Home HIV tests available by completing a simple online form at choicehealthnetwork.org. Free walk-in HIV and hepatitis C testing at our Knoxville office is available Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Clients also can receive STI/STD testing at our Knoxville office. To get tested or ask questions, call 865-525-1540.

Choice Health Network is a 501(c)(3) public health nonprofit serving Tennessee’s most in need populations: more than 6,300 individuals and families struggling to survive the challenges created by HIV, homelessness, mental illness and substance use. The organization has offices in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Memphis and Upper Cumberland. For more information, visit choicehealthnetwork.org.
