Farragut Museum Launches Monthly History Hour Speaker Series

The Farragut Museum is thrilled to announce a brand-new monthly speaker series—History Hour—designed to spotlight fascinating aspects of local, regional, and state history. Hosted at the museum, each session will feature a guest speaker sharing unique stories and historical insights that may not be widely known.

The series kicks off at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, with Farragut High School Tennessee History teacher Ben Collins, who will explore lesser-known famous Tennesseans. The lineup continues with engaging speakers and topics each month:

  • Wednesday, August 20: Jack Neely of the Knoxville History Project discusses Knoxville’s pivotal role in the creation of a national park in the Smokies.

  • Tuesday, September 16: Wanda Sobieski from the Knoxville Women’s Suffrage Coalition presents on Tennessee’s key role in securing women’s right to vote and plans for a new suffrage museum in Knoxville.

  • Monday, October 14: Farragut Town Administrator David Smoak will offer insight into the operations and growth of the Town of Farragut.

“All History Hours begin at 11 a.m. and are open to the public,” said Kristi Vining, Historic Resources Coordinator for the Town of Farragut. “We are excited to present this speaker series and hope our guests find History Hour both engaging and educational.”
