Brewing Confidence & Purpose: ABA Next Steps Riverside Coffee Shop Creates Opportunities for Young Adults with Special Needs

At ABA Next Steps Riverside Coffee Shop in Lenoir City, the mission is more than serving coffee—it's about creating meaningful opportunities for young adults with special needs. This unique program is built on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and tailored specifically for individuals who don’t face significant maladaptive behaviors but still benefit from structured life and job skills support.

Each participant has an individualized plan based on thorough assessments, and the goal is to foster independence, confidence, and real-world experience—right inside the welcoming environment of a working coffee shop. The program was founded by Angela, a licensed BCBA with a Master’s in Special Education and a personal connection to the mission: her son, born with Down syndrome, inspired her to build a space where inclusion and purpose thrive.

As a nonprofit, ABA Next Steps is deeply rooted in service. They’re not only offering hands-on education, but also giving families a sense of hope and community.

To learn more about their mission, programs, or how to get involved, visit abanextsteps.com or email Angela at [email protected].
