Experience the Rhythms of Culture at the Kuumba Festival

Mark your calendars for August 1 as Downtown Market Square transforms into a vibrant celebration of African culture, heritage, and community spirit from 12 PM to 10 PM during the beloved Kuumba Festival!

The day kicks off with the colorful and flavorful Kuumba Marketplace, where food and merchandise vendors from around the world come together to share their culture and creativity. Enjoy global bites, handcrafted goods, and one-of-a-kind finds!

Throughout the day, don’t miss powerful performances by the Kuumba Watoto Dance and Drum Ensemble and Indigenous Vibes, showcasing the amazing sounds and movements of traditional West African drum and dance. Artists of all ages will captivate the crowd with their energy and passion.

Each evening wraps up with an electrifying live band performance, so bring your dancing shoes and be ready to celebrate!

Founded in 1989 by local Knoxville artists and community activists, the Kuumba Festival has grown to become the largest cultural heritage and music festival in East Tennessee, proudly celebrating African culture in the Diaspora and featuring the rich diversity of the African World Marketplace.

Celebrate Polish Culture at the Polish Heritage Festival!

Join us Friday, August 2 from 6:15–9:00 PM at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus (11 Northshore Dr) for a joyful evening of Polish tradition, music, food, and fun!

Enjoy lively performances, shop for unique Polish-themed T-shirts, and indulge in authentic Polish dishes and beer — all available for purchase. Don’t miss the crowd favorite Taste of Poland Plate for just $10!

Admission is only $1 and supports this special community event. Be sure to enter the raffle for your chance to win beautifully curated baskets filled with surprises!
