Feline Impressions Family Day at the McClung!


Calling all cat lovers and families! Join us on August 23rd from 1–4 pm for a free, family-friendly celebration inspired by our special exhibition, Karel Appel: Cats.

Discover the playful and expressive world of artist Karel Appel, whose fascination with domestic cats shines through in his bold and whimsical style. Throughout the afternoon, enjoy hands-on activities designed for all ages, including:

  • Yoga sessions inspired by feline flexibility

  • Printmaking workshops highlighting Appel’s colorful creativity

  • Interactive learning about cats in art and culture

Arts Together: A Conversation Series Debuts at KMA

The Knoxville Museum of Art (KMA) is proud to launch a new program series, Arts Together: A Conversation Series, designed to spark dialogue on the issues shaping our cultural life today. August 21 | 5:30 – 7:30 PM

The inaugural event, “Changing Tides: Censorship in the Arts,” brings leaders from Knoxville’s major arts institutions together to explore how creative organizations navigate questions of censorship and artistic freedom.

Call for Volunteers: GermanFest 2025 Needs You!

Knoxville’s beloved GermanFest is right around the corner, and organizers are calling on the community to help make it a success. This annual celebration of German culture takes place Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at First Lutheran Church & School, 1207 N. Broadway.

From traditional German food and music to family-friendly activities and cultural exhibits, GermanFest offers a day full of fun—and it wouldn’t be possible without dedicated volunteers. Whether you’re helping set up, serving bratwurst, welcoming guests, or keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes, your time and energy will help bring the spirit of Germany to Knoxville.

Volunteering is a great way to connect with the community, meet new friends, and be part of one of the city’s most anticipated summer events. Shifts are flexible, so you can still enjoy plenty of the festivities while lending a hand.
