Knox County Master Gardeners Celebrate 40 Years of Growing, Giving, and Gardening

The Knox County Master Gardeners (KCMG) are marking a major milestone—40 years of cultivating community and knowledge. A special celebration, open to the public, will take place on Friday, October 17th from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the UT Gardens Pavilion.
The group will dedicate its newly designed Birch Grove Garden, created by landscape designer Jack McCoy and funded by Master Gardener Walter Fain. The garden will serve as a living tribute to four decades of service, growth, and education in East Tennessee. More Info
New Art Exhibits Opening at The Emporium in November
The Arts & Culture Alliance invites the public to explore an inspiring lineup of new exhibitions opening throughout November at The Emporium Center, 100 S. Gay Street. Visitors can meet many of the artists during free receptions on Friday, November 7th, 4 PM – 9 PM and Friday, November 14th from 5 PM – 7 PM.
The Southern Woodworkers Showcase (November 7th–9th) brings over 30 master artisans together for the 22nd biennial celebration of woodworking, featuring furniture, sculpture, and live demonstrations. Ongoing exhibitions through the month include Southern Comforts by Michelle Lindsey and Jacene Witzel, The Celebrity Show by William Holbert, and A Moment in Time by Bethany Stahl, offering everything from Tennessee-inspired paintings to plein air landscapes and vibrant portraits.
Later in the month, Pieces of Us: A Cultural Mosaic by the Ceramic Soul Collective (November 14th–29th) and Shape of Time (November 14th–December 23rd) curated by Vesna Pavlović continue the celebration of creativity and culture.
Admission is free, and most works are available for purchase in person or online.

Cheer on Young Sailors at the Osprey Cup Youth Regatta

This weekend, October 18th–19th, the Concord Sailing Center invites the community to enjoy a spectacular weekend on the water at the Osprey Cup Youth Regatta, hosted at Concord Yacht Club (11600 S. Northshore Dr.). Spectators are warmly encouraged to attend and experience the excitement of Knoxville’s only youth regatta of its kind.
Races take place Saturday starting at 12 PM and Sunday starting at 9:30 AM, featuring young sailors ages 10–18 from across the region navigating the waters of Fort Loudoun Lake in Optimist Dinghies, O’Pen Skiffs, and 420 class boats. Visitors can expect beautiful views, crisp fall air, and the thrill of competition as these youth sailors put their skills to the test.
Bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket and relax lakeside as you watch the colorful sails glide across the water. The gate will be open for visitors, and everyone is welcome to stop by, cheer on the sailors, and maybe even catch the sailing bug themselves.
