Knoxville Opera Presents Bizet’s Carmen — A Passionate Masterpiece of Music and Drama

The Knoxville Opera invites audiences to experience one of the most iconic works in the history of opera — Bizet’s Carmen — taking the stage October 24th–26th, at the Tennessee Theatre.
Performances will be held on Friday, October 24th, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, October 26th, at 2:30 PM.
This timeless opera follows Carmen, a bold and magnetic woman who lives freely and fearlessly in sultry Seville. Her intoxicating charm ensnares Don José, a soldier whose love for her spirals into obsession and tragedy. Add the confident swagger of bullfighter Escamillo, the tension of jealousy, and one of the most recognizable scores in the operatic canon—and you have an electrifying evening of music, passion, and drama.
Featuring unforgettable numbers such as the “Habanera” and “Toreador Song,” Carmen blends fiery emotion with stunning musical craftsmanship. Sung in French with projected English translations, this production promises to captivate both opera newcomers and longtime fans alike.
The performance also marks the thrilling start of Knoxville Opera’s Masters of Mischief season—a celebration of characters who live, love, and defy the rules.
