Community Day of Grace - Coming Together in Honor and Healing

You are invited to gather for the “Community Day of Grace”, an event of remembrance and support taking place today - October 22nd, at Powell Church (323 W. Emory Rd) at 6 p.m..  This gathering honors the life of 13-year-old Savannah Grace Copeland, who tragically passed in October 2024. 

Sponsored by Savannah’s family, the event will serve as a way to stand together in unity and compassion welcomes the Powell community as well as anyone who has experienced profound loss.  It offers a space to remember, reflect, and find connection with others who understand the weight and journey of grief. Attendees can expect heartfelt moments, communal support, and the chance to engage in meaningful activities designed to honor life, resilience, and togetherness. 

This gathering offers more than remembrance—it provides hope, fellowship, and a way for friends, neighbors, and those navigating grief to feel seen and supported in a safe, understanding environment.

PAT the Play - A Powerful Tribute to Coach Pat Summitt

Tickets for only two performances remain available for PAT, the moving one-woman play written and performed by Lisa Soland, honoring legendary Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt. Catch these final available shows on Friday, October 24th at 7:30 PM and Saturday, October 25th at 2:30 PM at the Old City Performing Arts Center in downtown Knoxville.

This inspiring production traces Summitt’s journey from her childhood in Henrietta, Tennessee, to her groundbreaking coaching career at the University of Tennessee—and her courageous fight against Alzheimer’s. Soland’s heartfelt portrayal captures Summitt’s drive, humor, and unbreakable spirit, earning praise from audiences and Lady Vols leaders alike.

Halls Branch Library Used Book Sale

Book lovers, mark your calendars! The Halls Branch Library (4518 E. Emory Road) will host its Used Book Sale on Saturday, October 25th, from 10 AM to 5 PM. This community-favorite event offers a treasure trove of gently used books at unbeatable prices—perfect for readers of all ages and interests.

Shoppers can browse an extensive selection of fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, cookbooks, biographies, and more, with proceeds supporting library programs and resources that benefit the local community. TN Heroes Fall Fest Honors Local Military and Service Heroes

The TN Heroes Fall Fest returns to Clear Springs Baptist Church (7350 Tazewell Pike, Corryton) on Saturday, October 25th, from 11 AM to 3 PM, celebrating military members, first responders, and community service heroes. Hosted by the Respect and Remember Foundation, the event aims to raise funds for local JROTC programs while bringing the community together for a day of fun, food, and fellowship.

The festival will feature a variety of family-friendly activities, including cornhole competitions with awards, cake walks, bounce houses, a silent auction, and plenty of food and craft vendors. Attendees can also enjoy a display of classic cars and Jeeps, face painting, and other fall festivities perfect for all ages.

This free community event is both a celebration and a tribute to those who serve. Come enjoy a fall day filled with live entertainment, local vendors, and heartfelt appreciation for Tennessee’s heroes.

On October 22nd from 6:00-8:00 PM, Volunteer Cookie Co. will host a Cookie Decorating Class at The Kraken’s Cup, located at 4815 N Broadway, Suite 107.
