Knoxville’s Own Baby Remington Reaches National Quarterfinals in Baby of the Year Contest!

Remington Michael McClure, a bright-eyed 9-month-old born at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, has made it into the Top 25 quarterfinalists in the nationwide Baby of the Yea” competition, sponsored by actress and entrepreneur Jessica Alba.
Out of more than 2,500 adorable contestants, little Remi has captured hearts across the country with his joyful spirit and photogenic smile — and now, he’s just one round away from the finals!
Contest proceeds benefit Baby2Baby, a nonprofit organization that provides diapers, clothing, and other necessities to children in need. Supporters can vote for Remington for free once every 24 hours, or make a small donation to Baby2Baby to cast additional votes — all while helping a great cause.
Remington’s parents, Denise Berger McClure and Daniel McClure, say they’re touched by the outpouring of encouragement from family, friends, and Knoxville locals. If you would like to vote - Vote Here!
Free Senior Lifestyle, Health & Home Expo

Seniors and caregivers across East Tennessee are invited to attend the Senior Lifestyle, Health & Home Expo, coming to the Tennova YMCA in Powell (7540 Dannaher Drive) on Wednesday, November 6th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
This free community event brings together dozens of local organizations and experts offering resources to help seniors live healthier, safer, and more independent lives. Visitors can explore booths on home healthcare, wellness, independent living, Medicare, senior advocacy, vision and hearing testing, and home renovation and remodeling—all under one roof.
In addition to learning opportunities, attendees can take advantage of several complimentary health services, including free colon cancer screenings, free vision and hearing screenings, and free vaccines. Plus, there will be prizes, giveaways, and plenty of friendly faces ready to help with information and support.
Event sponsors include Anchor 934 Apartment Homes, The Baldwin Group, Guardant Health, and HearingLife, alongside numerous community partners such as the American Red Cross, WellCare, Knox Primary Care, LeafGuard, and the West Knox Lions Club.
Whether you’re a senior, a caregiver, or simply planning ahead, this event is the perfect way to discover valuable programs, meet local professionals, and take proactive steps toward better health and home comfort.


Explore Nature with the Knox County Master Gardeners - Guided Tree Walk at Collier Preserve

Welcome November with a peaceful stroll through one of Powell’s most scenic green spaces! The Knox County Master Gardeners (KCMG) invite the public to a guided tree walk on Saturday, November 1st at 9:00 a.m. at Collier Preserve, a beautiful native plant garden and birding area located beside the Powell Branch Library at 316 W. Emory Road.
This free, family-friendly event offers a wonderful opportunity to learn about the diverse trees and native plants that thrive in East Tennessee. Knowledgeable Master Gardeners will lead participants on a leisurely tour through the preserve, sharing insights on plant identification, tree care, and the importance of native species in supporting local ecosystems.
Participants should meet at the Powell Branch Library before the walk begins. Comfortable shoes, curiosity, and perhaps a camera for capturing the fall colors are all you’ll need for this enriching outdoor experience.
The Knox County Master Gardeners are dedicated volunteers who partner with the University of Tennessee and Tennessee State University Cooperative Extension Services to provide free educational programs throughout the community.

Lunges & Lattes - A Morning of Fitness and Fun at Petty Coffee

Start your Sunday with a perfect blend of movement and motivation! The Lunges & Lattes Tour makes its next stop on Sunday, November 2nd, from 8:00 AM - 8:45 AM at Petty Coffee, located at 215 Brookview Centre Way, Suite #107.
Led by YMCA group fitness instructors Lindsey and Veronica, this energizing morning workout combines the best of both worlds — a quick, fun fitness session followed by your favorite local brew. Whether you’re a gym regular or just looking to get your blood flowing before brunch, everyone is welcome to join in. Donations are appreciated but not required.
After class, Petty Coffee is offering a special discount for attendees, so you can reward your hard work with a well-deserved latte, cappuccino, or cold brew. It’s the ultimate Sunday combo — fitness, coffee, and community.

Warm Hearts, Warm Hands - Bello Business Solutions Launches Winter Clothing Drive Drop-Off

As the temperatures drop, Bello Business Solutions is inviting the Knoxville community to come together and make a difference through its Warm Hearts, Warm Hands winter clothing drop-off. The initiative is collecting donations of coats, blankets, and gloves for people of all ages and sizes—from children to adults.
Organizers are also encouraging donations of hot hands, new underwear, hats, and socks, all of which will go directly to help those in need this winter. Donations can be dropped off at: 108 Stekoia Lane, Suite 102.

As the leaves fall and planting season begins, Dogwood Arts is once again inspiring East Tennesseans to dig in and help Keep Knoxville Blooming through its beloved Bazillion Blooms campaign. Bare-root trees, standing 2–4 feet tall, are available for $25 each or $20 each when purchasing five or more, with your choice of white or pink blooms.
