Blount Mansion invites the community to a fascinating evening of history and reflection on November 6th at 6:00 p.m. Join Dr. William Hardy of Lincoln Memorial University for a special lecture titled “Lincoln’s Other Proclamation: The Origin of America’s Thanksgiving Holiday Tradition.”

Held at Blount Mansion (200 W. Hill Ave), this engaging talk explores the little-known story of how President Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 proclamation transformed Thanksgiving from a scattered regional custom into the national holiday we know today. Dr. Hardy will dive into the historical, political, and cultural influences that shaped this uniquely American tradition of gratitude.

This event is part of Blount Mansion’s ongoing History Lecture Series, dedicated to bringing compelling stories of America’s past to life right here in Knoxville.
