Always Loretta - A Heartfelt Tribute to the Queen of Country

Country music fans in East Tennessee are in for a truly special night when THE COALMINERS present Always Loretta at the Clayton Center for the Arts – Ronald and Lynda Nutt Theatre on January 24th at 7:30 p.m. This one-of-a-kind concert is the only officially authorized re-creation of a Loretta Lynn performance, approved by the Loretta Lynn Estate, and it brings her music, spirit, and stories back to life in a way no other tribute can.
The show stars Emily Portman as Loretta Lynn, joined by The Coalminers, the legendary band that toured with Loretta for more than 40 years, performing over 5,000 shows for more than 25 million fans around the world. Emily’s connection to Loretta goes far beyond the stage. While portraying her in the Conway Twitty musical It’s Only Make Believe, Emily formed a close friendship with Loretta during visits to her ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. That personal bond, combined with years of shared memories, gives this production a warmth and authenticity that audiences immediately feel.
During the 90-minute concert, you’ll hear Loretta’s biggest hits along with beloved fan favorites that didn’t always make it into her touring set lists. One of the most touching parts of the evening is the “Get to Know Loretta” segment, where audience members can ask questions and The Coalminers share funny, heartfelt stories from their years on the road with the Queen of Country — from the Grand Ole Opry to Carnegie Hall and even the Sydney Opera House.
This isn’t just a tribute show — it’s an intimate look into Loretta Lynn’s life, music, and legacy, performed by the people who knew her best and a vocalist who sounds uncannily like her. Whether you grew up listening to Loretta or are discovering her music for the first time, Always Loretta promises an unforgettable evening of classic country, laughter, and memories. The East TN Fishing Show & Expo

Fishing fans of every age are invited to reel in excitement at the East Tennessee Fishing Show & Expo, taking over the Knoxville Expo Center (5441 Clinton Hwy) from January 22nd - 25th. This nation-class event celebrates the sport of fishing with gear, education, and family fun all under one roof.
With hundreds of vendors covering more than 100,000 square feet, the show offers anglers a chance to explore the latest boats, kayaks, tackle, rods, reels, marine electronics, apparel, and fishing accessories from top brands and innovators. Whether you’re into bass, fly, crappie, or saltwater fishing, you’ll find gear and gadgets tailored to your next adventure.
The East TN Fishing Show is also packed with opportunities to learn from the pros. Professional anglers host seminars throughout the weekend, sharing tips, techniques, and insights from competitive fishing circuits and decades on the water. The event is designed to entertain and educate, whether you’re a seasoned angler or just getting started.
Families are welcome too. In addition to seminars and shopping, there are contests, door prizes, and activities that help make fishing fun for all ages — including youth anglers through special segments like the Lil’ Anglers Academy, which is free with admission. Hours are Thursday 2pm-8pm, Friday 9:30am - 7:30pm, Sat 9:30am - 7pm, and Sunday 10am - 5pm.
