Slide Into Something New - Learn to Curl

Whether you’ve watched the Winter Olympics and thought, I’d like to try that, or you’re just looking for a fun, active way to try something different this year, curling enthusiasts of all ages and newcomers alike have two great chances to get on the ice in February thanks to the Great Smoky Mountains Curling Club at the Ice Chalet in Knoxville.

The first Learn to Curl session takes place on February 15th, beginning at 3:15 p.m. This family-friendly event introduces participants to the basics of curling — from sliding the stone to learning how sweeping shapes play and strategy — in a welcoming, hands-on environment. No prior experience is needed, making it perfect for first-timers or groups of friends looking for a shared adventure.

A second session follows on February 22nd, starting at 4:00 p.m. Inspired by the excitement of the Winter Olympics, this Learn to Curl event is similarly geared toward curious beginners. Attendees can expect friendly instruction in delivery, sweeping, and basic game play, helping them understand the sport’s unique blend of skill, precision, and teamwork.

Both experiences are priced at $40 and provide a terrific introduction to one of the most social and strategic winter sports around. Business Spotlight on Hallmark Homecare of Knoxville, Farragut, Seymour

At Hallmark Homecare of Knoxville, Farragut, Seymour, compassionate care isn’t just a service—it’s a calling. This locally owned in-home care provider is dedicated to helping older adults remain safe, independent, and comfortable in the place they love most: home.

Owner Ronnie Lewis has felt a natural pull toward caring for aging adults since childhood. That instinct grew into a lifelong commitment to healthcare, with more than 17 years of experience as a licensed massage therapist and physical therapist assistant, supporting people through healing, mobility, and wellness. Her husband, Alan, brings deep operational and leadership experience, including time as a U.S. Navy corpsman, where he cared for fellow Marines. Together, their shared background in service and healthcare shapes every decision they make.

The couple was drawn to Hallmark Homecare because of its thoughtful, people-first model—one that prioritizes both clients and caregivers. Their connection to the mission is personal. When Ronnie’s grandparents needed care years ago, the family struggled to find dependable, affordable support that felt right. That experience never left them. Today, through Hallmark Homecare, they’re rewriting that story for other families by delivering personalized, consistent, high-quality in-home care.

What sets Hallmark Homecare apart is its emphasis on matching each client with the right caregiver, not only based on needs, but also personality, preferences, and lifestyle. Ronnie has seen firsthand how remaining at home can dramatically improve an older adult’s quality of life—supporting dignity, independence, and emotional well-being when paired with the right care team. Affordability, continuity of care, and caregiver consistency are central to the Hallmark approach.

Although Hallmark Homecare has been serving communities nationwide since 2012, the Knoxville, Farragut, and Seymour locations are new to the area, bringing a fresh, compassionate option to local families seeking trusted in-home support. Services are designed to empower clients and give families peace of mind, knowing their loved ones are cared for with respect and kindness.

To learn more or schedule a consultation, contact them at (865)-417-3892 or email [email protected]. Additional information is available on their website.

For Ronnie and her team, helping someone stay safely at home isn’t just practical—it’s priceless.
