RESCHEDULED - Read City 2026 - Stomp, Roar, Dinosaur

The Read City 2026 launch event, Stomp, Roar, Dinosaur!, has officially been rescheduled and will now take place on Friday, February 6, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bridgewater Place (205 Bridgewater Road).

Originally planned for January, the event was postponed due to our currently forecasted weather. The free event invites children and families to step into a dinosaur-themed adventure designed to spark imagination and excitement around reading.

Stomp, Roar, Dinosaur! serves as the official launch of Read City 2026, a community-wide effort that encourages literacy and a love of books among young readers. With interactive activities and a playful prehistoric theme, the event offers a lively way for families to connect, explore, and celebrate reading together.

The event is open to the public, and families are encouraged to stop by anytime during the evening to take part in the festivities. With its new February date, Stomp, Roar, Dinosaur! promises to be a roaring good time and a memorable way to start the year with books, creativity, and community.

Families are encouraged to mark their calendars and join the Knox County Public Library on February 6 for an evening of reading fun that’s sure to delight dinosaur fans of all ages.

BeLocal Bingo Brings a Fun Night Out for a Good Cause to Maple Hall

Looking for a fun and easy way to support a local nonprofit while enjoying a night out in downtown Knoxville? BeLocal Bingo is happening on February 3rd, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Maple Hall (414 South Gay Street).

Hosted by Maple Hall and BeLocal of K-Town, this charity bingo night is free to attend and free to play, making it accessible for anyone looking to join in the fun. Whether you’re a bingo regular or trying it for the first time, the event offers a relaxed, social atmosphere perfect for gathering friends, enjoying food and drinks, and competing for prizes.

This month’s bingo event benefits Street Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing the sexual exploitation and trafficking of children and offering restoration services for survivors. By attending, participants can enjoy an entertaining evening while helping support an important local cause.

A 3-Day Mardi Gras Whirlwind Takes Knoxville Travelers to New Orleans

If you are looking to experience the energy, color, and tradition of Mardi Gras can join Travel by Olympus for a 3-Day Mardi Gras Whirlwind adventure from February 13th–15th. This fast-paced group trip offers a front-row seat to one of the most iconic celebrations in the country, complete with parades, music, food, and unforgettable moments in New Orleans.

The journey kicks off Friday evening, February 13th, with late-night departures from Knoxville and Farragut before heading south toward the Crescent City. After arriving early Saturday morning, travelers will step straight into the heart of New Orleans, starting the day with beignets at the famous Café du Monde before diving into the excitement of Mardi Gras festivities. Saturday includes time in the French Quarter, lively street celebrations, and a full afternoon of parade-watching, including appearances by well-known krewes and the chance to catch prized throws from elaborate floats.

As the celebrations continue into the evening, participants will enjoy dinner and soak in the electric atmosphere that makes Mardi Gras legendary.
