Smoky Mountain Bigfoot Festival Returns with a Birthday Bash for the Ages

Get ready for one of the most legendary celebrations in East Tennessee. The 6th Annual Smoky Mountain Bigfoot Festival is set for May 2nd, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Townsend, right at the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains. This year’s festival comes with a playful twist—it’s being billed as the biggest Bigfoot birthday party East Tennessee has ever seen.

Held at 7930 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway, the 2026 festival blends Bigfoot folklore with a full day of family-friendly fun, entertainment, and surprises. Fans of the mysterious creature can expect a lively mix of guest speakers, live music, food trucks, vendors, contests, and interactive activities, all wrapped in a festive, birthday-themed atmosphere.

Highlights planned for the day include Bigfoot-themed birthday games and giveaways, a giant birthday card for fans to sign, and special-edition merchandise created just for this milestone celebration. Photo opportunities will be plentiful, including snaps with Party Sasquatch, and the festivities wouldn’t be complete without a sweet moment featuring cake-inspired treats, candles, and confetti to honor the guest of honor himself.

The Smoky Mountain Bigfoot Festival is designed to be family-friendly and pet-friendly, with a kid zone, vendors, and food trucks on-site to keep everyone happy throughout the day. Whether you’re a longtime Bigfoot enthusiast, a curious first-timer, or just looking for a uniquely fun way to spend a spring day in the Smokies, this festival offers something for all ages.

Set against the scenic backdrop of Townsend, often called the “Peaceful Side of the Smokies,” the event combines local charm, Appalachian folklore, and lighthearted fun into one unforgettable celebration. Mark your calendar—because Bigfoot’s birthday only comes once a year, and this one promises to be legendary.

Homeschool Hoedown Brings Hands-On Learning to Little Ponderosa Zoo

Homeschool families across East Tennessee are invited to saddle up for a day of discovery at Little Ponderosa Zoo and Rescue (629 Granite Road, Clinton) during its Homeschool Hoedown on February 13th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This special event is designed specifically for homeschool groups looking to combine education, exploration, and unforgettable animal encounters in a relaxed, engaging environment.

Throughout the day, students will have the opportunity to take part in animal shows at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., each featuring a knowledgeable zookeeper who will share fascinating facts, behind-the-scenes insights, and answer questions about the animals and their care. These presentations offer a rare chance for children to connect directly with wildlife experts while learning about conservation, habitats, and animal behavior.

In addition to the scheduled shows, families can visit the Exploratory Table, where a zookeeper will be available for one-on-one questions and interactive learning. This hands-on element encourages curiosity and makes the experience adaptable for a wide range of ages and learning styles, making it ideal for homeschool students.

Special homeschool rates are available with verification, and the zoo welcomes inquiries for questions or special accommodations. Set in Clinton, Tennessee, Little Ponderosa Zoo and Rescue provides a unique outdoor classroom where learning comes alive through real-world experiences and close-up animal encounters.

The Homeschool Hoedown offers a meaningful way for families to enrich their curriculum, enjoy a day outdoors, and create lasting memories—all while supporting a local rescue dedicated to education and animal care.

Toddler Takeover Brings Playful Mornings to Farragut Community Center

Parents and caregivers looking for a fun, affordable way to keep little ones active have a great option with Toddler Takeover, a weekly program hosted by Farragut Parks & Recreation at the Farragut Community Center.

Held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00–11:00 a.m., Toddler Takeover transforms the community center into a lively play space designed just for toddlers. The hour is packed with movement, exploration, and imaginative play, giving young children a chance to burn energy, build coordination, and socialize with other kids in a safe, welcoming environment.

Activities often include colorful parachute play, soft climbing equipment, balls, tunnels, and other age-appropriate toys that encourage active, hands-on fun. The program is intentionally unstructured enough to let toddlers explore at their own pace while still offering plenty of opportunities for movement and interaction.

One of the biggest perks for families is the cost—just $2 per child—making it an easy addition to a weekly routine. It’s also a great chance for parents and caregivers to connect with others in the community while their children play.
