Vietnam Veterans Honored with Special Ceremony at World’s Fair Park

Let’s come together to recognize and honor those who served during the Vietnam War with a special ceremony marking National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

Observed annually, this national day of remembrance was established through the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017, calling on Americans to reflect on the service and sacrifice of Vietnam veterans. The date holds deep historical significance, as it marks the day in 1973 when the last U.S. combat troops departed Vietnam.

The Vietnam Veterans of America, Capt. Bill Robinson Chapter 1078 will host a commemorative ceremony on March 28th at 10:00 AM. The event will take place at the Vietnam Veterans Monument within the East Tennessee Veterans Memorial at World’s Fair Park.

This year’s ceremony will feature a powerful keynote address from USAF Captain Bill Robinson (Ret.), who holds the distinction of being the longest-held enlisted Prisoner of War in U.S. military history. His story and perspective are expected to bring a meaningful and personal dimension to the event.

The ceremony is open to the public and serves as an opportunity for the Knoxville community to honor, reflect, and show gratitude to the men and women who served during the Vietnam War.

Books & Brews - Knox County Library Pop-Up Sales at Crafty Bastard

If you love a good book and a great local hangout, this is the perfect pairing. The Friends of the Knox County Public Library are bringing their popular used book sales to Crafty Bastard Brewery—turning two Knoxville favorites into one unique experience.

Through March 31st, both the West Knoxville (9937 Kingston Pike) and Emory Place (Downtown, 6 Emory Place) locations of Crafty Bastard will host week-long used book sales during regular business hours.

This isn’t your typical library sale setup. Instead, you can browse tables of gently used books while enjoying the laid-back, social atmosphere of one of Knoxville’s favorite breweries. Whether you’re stopping in for a drink or specifically coming to shop, it’s an easy and fun way to discover your next read.

Expect a wide variety of titles—everything from fiction and nonfiction to children’s books and hidden gems—at affordable prices. Like other Friends of the Library sales, proceeds go toward supporting programs, outreach, and resources for the Knox County Public Library system.

The week-long format also means you don’t have to rush. Swing by after work, meet friends, and browse at your own pace throughout the event.

If you’re looking for a low-key outing that supports a great cause, Books & Brews at Crafty Bastard is a perfect way to spend some time this spring—because everything’s better with a good book in one hand and a local drink in the other.

Flourish - A Spring Garden Party for Women at Maple Grove Estate

Celebrate the season of growth and renewal at Flourish - A GreenStalk Garden Party 2026, happening on April 14th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the beautiful Maple Grove Estate (8800 Westland Drive).

Designed as a women’s spring gathering, this special evening invites guests to slow down, connect, and be inspired by the joys of gardening and personal growth. The event will feature special guest Cassandra of Becoming a Farm Girl, who will share an encouraging message about embracing the season of life you’re in and discovering that you don’t need perfect conditions to begin growing something meaningful.

Guests can enjoy a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with hors d’oeuvres, mingling, and opportunities to connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts. Each ticket also includes take-home plants, a branded tote bag, and a chance to participate in a seed swap, where attendees are encouraged to bring seeds from their own garden—or a favorite variety to share.

Throughout the evening, you’ll also have time to meet Cassandra, connect with the GreenStalk team, and take part in a raffle drawing. More than just a garden party, the event is centered around building community and encouraging women to cultivate both their gardens and their lives.

Proceeds from the event will benefit The Stroke Foundation, supporting a cause that is especially meaningful to the organizers.

Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just getting started, Flourish offers a refreshing and inspiring way to welcome spring alongside a community of like-minded women.
