Scruffy's EDM Night Is Back - and This One's Even Better

If you missed round one, now's your chance. Scruffy's Cafe is hosting its EDM Community Night on April 25th, starting at 5 PM, and they've leveled up the experience for edition two.

Step into the cafe and you'll find live DJs spinning all night, Kandi bracelet making, UV paint and glitter stations, professional photography, local vendors to browse, and of course — cats doing exactly what cats do. Free festive drinks and treats are included with your ticket, and gift bags round out the night.

New this time around: flash tattoos, tooth gems, and flow dancing have been added to the mix. The vibe is festival energy in a cozy, intentional space — spots are limited each hour to keep things calm and connected.

The best part? Every ticket sold supports Scruffy's rescue mission. The cafe has been operating since 2020 and has helped rescue nearly 2,000 cats. Tickets are sold by the hour — grab yours before they're gone. More Info & Tickets

A UT Professor's New Novel Comes Home - Book Launch at Union Ave Books

If you love books and love supporting local, put May 14th at 6 PM on your calendar!

Union Ave Books is hosting the launch celebration for Christopher Hebert's new novel, Delivery — and it's free to attend. Hebert is no stranger to Knoxville: he's an Associate Professor of English and Director of Creative Writing at the University of Tennessee, and this homecoming launch is the kind of literary event the city does so well.

Delivery follows a pizza delivery shift that turns into something far bigger — a portrait of a young man's inner world, set against the backdrop of hope, history, fear, and friendship, all filtered through the windows of a beloved Plymouth TC3 named Bobcat. The early praise is extraordinary. Kevin Wilson, bestselling author of Nothing to See Here, calls it "an openhearted and honest rendering of American masculinity." Emily Nemens, author of The Cactus League, says Hebert makes "the pizza delivery shift turn epic in the best ways."

Hebert is also the author of Angels of Detroit and The Boiling Season, and co-editor of Stories of Nation from UT Press. This is an author at the top of his craft, celebrating a new book in the city he calls home.

The event is free — just RSVP so Union Ave Books knows to expect you. More Info & RSVP

Live Music, Local Vendors & Magnolias - 2nd Saturday Marketplace Is Back

One of Knoxville's most charming monthly traditions is back for another season, and it's the perfect reason to spend a Saturday morning outside.

Tea & Treasures (4104 W. Martin Mill Pike) hosts its 2nd Saturday Marketplace on the second Saturday of every month from April through October, and the next one is coming up May 9th from 11 AM to 4 PM. Come for the live music, stay for the food truck, browse the outdoor vendors, and find yourself completely relaxed under the magnolias before you know it.

It's a laid-back, community-friendly outing — the kind of Saturday morning that reminds you why you love living here. Tea & Treasures describes itself as "a unique collection of old and new," and the marketplace carries that same spirit: a little bit of everything, all in one beautiful spot.

Mark every second Saturday on your calendar — remaining 2026 dates are May 9th, June 13th, July 11th, August 8th, September 12th, and October 10th, all 11 AM–4 PM, weather permitting.

This Saturday - Poppy Lou's Spring Market Social at Hardin Valley Event Center

Show up this Saturday, April 18th from 11 AM to 6 PM at the Hardin Valley Event Center (2620 Willow Point Way) for a full day of local shopping, food, and fun.

Poppy Lou's Markets is hosting their Spring Market Social, and nearly 1,000 people have already said they're interested in attending. You'll find local small businesses, food trucks, kids activities, a Casual Pint, and plenty more to explore — all completely free to attend. It's the kind of all-day outing where you pop in for an hour and end up staying until dinnertime.
