Kayaks, Cajun & a Concert for a Cause

This one is equal parts adventure, feast, and live music — and every bit of it goes toward something good.

The Smooth Sailor Bayou Bash rolls into the Hardin Valley Event Center (2620 Willow Point Way) on June 6th for a full afternoon and evening of only-in-Knoxville fun. The action kicks off with a kayak shuttle from 1 PM - 3 PM, followed by a Low Country Boil served by The Shrimp Dock from 5 PM - 7 PM — shrimp, corn, sausage, and all the Cajun flair you can handle — before the headlining Smooth Sailor Lawnchair Concert takes the stage at 6 PM. Best of all, the event benefits the Epilepsy Foundation, making every ticket a contribution to a cause that truly matters.

Come for the kayaking, stay for the boil, and end the night dancing under the stars. More Info

Grammy Gold at the Tennessee Theatre

The Punch Brothers — the Grammy Award-winning bluegrass quintet fronted by mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile — bring their singular sound to the Tennessee Theatre on May 28th at 8:00 PM.

Calling them a "bluegrass band" is like calling the Tennessee Theatre "just a building" — technically true, but wildly insufficient. The Punch Brothers have spent two decades pushing acoustic string music into thrilling new territory, pulling from jazz, classical, pop, and folk to create something entirely their own. More Info

Dog-Ear This One - Summer Book Fest Hits Fourth & Gill

The Summer Book Fest takes over the Fourth & Gill neighborhood on June 13th for a one-of-a-kind literary celebration spread across some of Knoxville's best independent spaces — including Crafty Bastard Brewery, Barrelhouse by Gypsy Circus, and Xul Beer Company.

The centerpiece is a free Book Fair & Market where you can browse, buy, and discover your next favorite read from indie authors, small presses, and local booksellers. Alongside the market, there are BookTok IRL panels, author meet-and-greets, live shows, and photo ops — the kind of community-meets-fandom energy that makes Knoxville's literary scene so special. Whether you're a lifelong reader or just looking for a great reason to explore the Fourth & Gill neighborhood, this one is absolutely worth your Saturday.

Free to attend — come for the books, stay for the community. More Info

The Song Is Back - Taking Back Sunday & Bayside at Mill & Mine

If the early 2000s alt-rock scene shaped your teenage years, you'll want to be at Mill & Mine on June 8th! Taking Back Sunday — the iconic Long Island band behind anthems like "MakeDamnSure," "Cute Without the 'E'," and "A Decade Under the Influence" — comes to Mill & Mine on Monday, June 8th at 8:00 PM, with the legendary Bayside opening the night.

These are two of the most beloved names in the genre, and hearing them together live is the kind of show that sends you right back to every car ride, every bedroom playlist, every moment those songs soundtracked. This one's 18+, so grab your tickets and leave the kids with a babysitter — it's going to be a night. More Info
