Sunset Cinema Returns with Free Movies in Knox County Parks This Summer

Families are invited to enjoy free outdoor movies under the stars as Sunset Cinema returns to parks across Knox County this summer.

Hosted by Knox County Parks & Recreation, the popular series offers wholesome family fun with pre-show activities, movie concessions, and blockbuster films shown at dusk in local parks throughout the community.

Each event begins with pre-screening activities at 7:00 p.m., followed by the featured movie at dusk. Admission is free.

  • June 12 – Wicked: For Good at Powell Station Park

  • June 26 – How to Train Your Dragon at Carter Park

  • July 10 – Jurassic World Rebirth at Knoxville-Knox County SportsPark

  • July 24 – Lilo & Stitch at Clayton Park

  • August 7 – Jaws at The Cove at Concord Park

Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of outdoor entertainment with family and friends.

Dragonfly Aerial presents “Small World Under the Big Top” at Ijams

Dragonfly Aerial & Circus Arts is celebrating 15 years of circus arts in Knoxville with a whimsical new production, “Circus Extravaganza: Small World Under the Big Top.”

The family-friendly human circus performance will take audiences on an imaginative journey where the world grows larger and guests shrink down into a magical environment inspired by nature and insects. Filled with awe, laughter, acrobatics, and visual wonder, the show promises entertainment for all ages.

Performances will take place May 29 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and May 30 with two performances scheduled from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Doors open one hour before each performance.

The event will be held on the lawn near the Visitor Center at Ijams Nature Center. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

Food and drinks will be available through the Dragonfly Aerial concession stand, and the Ijams Nature Center beer garden will be open during all performances. Dogs are welcome but must remain leashed, and guests are asked to clean up after their pets. More Info
